Michael Vick – The New Paris Hilton
Michael Vick could be rapidly moving from being a celebrity and star to becoming the next Paris Hilton. If he does accept a plea deal with the feds and escapes prosecution in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, the next big scandal surrounding Michael Vick might be the short sentence that he might receive if he spends any time in jail at all.
If you thought the circus around Paris Hilton was an over blown effort by the media, wait until the circus cranks into full spin with Michael Vick, which will not only turn out the tabloid reporters, but also sports journalists, main stream journalists, sports fans, civil rights proponents, and animal rights proponents.
Its really hard to guess where the center ring of this circus might be, but Vick will once again be the main attraction.

What Vick is accused of doing is reprehensible. However, I don’t think prosecution by the state is the best way to handle incidents that don’t involve harming another person or their property. He’s certainly going to suffer socially and professionally for the rest of his life. That’s the proper response to this sort of thing, in my opinion.
I consider myself, mostly a libertarian and do not disagree with you Darren.
That said, if the testimony provided so far is held to be fact. Then it would appear that Vick broke multiple crimes that have been on the books for a long time.
He could have used some of his millions to lobby congress to change the laws, set up a PAC, run for office himself or a lot of other things.
If he were to take the libertarian view, and worked to protest the law by breaking it, then he should not complain when he continues to protest the law by going to jail for the crime.
Please someone post any supporters of Michael V. I think myself and other animal people would like to know. I believe sending a statment in total support and hitting these supporters where it really hurts, in the pocket book. There is power in numbers!!
In response to dogsarepeopletoo, I love your screen name, but I must correct you dogs are not people! As much as you protest his existence as a human being I am still a Michael Vick football fan. I make no excuses for what he has done but at some point do we continue to persecute the individual even after the law has dealt its punishment? Ater he has paid his debt to society according to the letter of the law, must he also be persecuted by the public at large?
The problem is that promising to plea, is not punishment.
He has not pleaded yet. The plea is for an offense that is barely recognizable from the total list of crimes that he is alleged to have committed.
He appears to have negotiated a deal that lets him off entirely free.
Plus, as a football fan, I do not want any of the money that comes from me to support his pay check ever.
He needs to go find a different line of work and learn how to be a human again. He had his chance and completely blew it. Most people never get a chance like that. Some that do, achieve great things and help a lot of people.
Vick has not helped anyone and only injured anyone that he did business with.
I am so amazed at seeing sooo many people enjoying someone’s else pain and misery I wonder how many of you would react if this where you or a member of your family. Remember the bible says judge not and you wont be judged.. We should be praying for Michael Vick instead of being gleeful of his downfall. One thing I know about GOD is when things look it’s worst. He always shows up with this great burst of Light. Michael Vick keep your head up and remember that GOD Is GOD.. He will bring you through this ordeal. Love you with the Love of the Lord And yes you have a lot of people praying for you. Not against you.
I believe that Michael Vick like the Bush Administration and many Republicans is using religion to get out of trouble.
I believe Vick’s finding religion is highly suspect. I doubt that GOD appreciates people using his name to get out of trouble or to appease people.
I believe Vick probably loves GOD about as much as he loved his dogs.
I am not gleeful that Vick has fallen. Nothing is more troubling that watching a person with a great deal of potential blow it all and waste that potential. In GOD terms, Vick was BLESSED and given GIFTS that most people are never given. Vick frivolously squandered those GIFTS and pissed away the BLESSINGS and essentially thumbed his nose at all the givers involved from his fans, to his team, the owners, the NFL, the advertisers and GOD too.
If Vick has found religion, I hope he does something more positive with it than all the dogs he found.
GOD and most religions may teach people not to pass judgment on people, but most religions also don’t encourage people to be chumps and ignore a person that is trying to con them.
I hope Vick can do better in the future by doing real things to help people as opposed to saying nice words and doing real bad things. Hopefully, Vick was not praying while he was torturing and murdering those dogs.
To juxtapose the race issue with the religious issues here, if Vick had been a skinny pale white kid wearing a trench coat and murdering those dogs, he might have been profiled as a devil worshiper.
I guess Michael Vick can look at it as a blessing that people do not think he is a devil worshiper too!
(Note in fairness to the Satanists ~ Animal Sacrifice is not always considered to be an actual practice encouraged by Satanists apparently. That raises the potential that Satanists might reject Vick too! )
