To the women would you feel if a man gave you an STD and he knew he had one? How about a big rich famous guy gave you one? What if he did this to your sister? Well, Sick Vick did this to a woman and she took him to court. He was being treated at a clinic under the name, "Ron Mexico," original isn't it!
He also got busted for pot at Miami International.
His own father said he was into dog fighting for many years...how many did he hang, electrocute and drown??? Why? Because they didn't want to fight! THINK! Go through the steps of what went on when he killed! It's horrific! That is why people are outraged! And could his apology have anything to do with the $100 million he will lose??? DUH!

I am horrified by the details of dogfighting - dogs tortured, beaten, starved, maimed, electrocuted, drowned, etc. People involved in this crime have serious, intense psychological problems, and need to be helped immediately so that they may not kill again. I am glad to know that Michael Vick's crimes are being taken seriously by the public - there is no excuse for animal cruelty.

People around the world will be celebrating and honoring animals on World Animal Day, October 4, 2007. For more information, or, if you would like to post a prayer for animals born into the cruel and inhumane world of dogfighting, please visit our site.

Thank-you!

Michael vick is someone who so many kids looks up to. For instance my nephew who is only 11 got his jersey a few years ago for christmas and was never more excited and wore it for a week straight. I havent talked to him about what he thinks about vick now but i hope his attitude has changed. The dogs do not deserve the life they have now. over 50 dogs are supposed to be killed which puts people in a hard spot. The dogs have been trained to fight, pitbulls are naturally aggressive dogs, with being trained to fight what else can the humane society or the government do with the dogs. Not many families are going to want to adopt a dog that is aggresive and a fighter. Now it would be to hard to train the dogs to be house trained and non aggresive. So court officials are saying that the dogs will probably be euthanized, which makes many people angry. It makes me angry too but what else is there to do with the dogs? Is there anything else they can do?

In light of the Michael Vick crimes, I am delighted to share this press release with those who care about animals.

"Animal Chaplains To Bless All Creatures on World Animal Day"

~ from the Interfaith Association of Animal Clergy

In what will look like a scene from the popular family movie, "Evan Almighty", scores of Animal Chaplains around the world will bless hundreds, perhaps thousands of animals in many different settings on October 4th 2007. At a pet cemetery on the east coast, to a city park in the desert, to a sandy beach on the west coast, they will walk in on a leash, fly in on a harness, and slither in their cages. Barking, mewing, bleating, mooing, whinnying and purring will join human voices in hymns of praise and worship.

That day is World Animal Day, a day dedicated to honoring, blessing, and protecting animals all over the world. World Animal Day was founded at an ecologist's convention in Florence, Italy in 1931 as a way of highlighting the plight of endangered species. October 4th was chosen as World Animal Day because it is also the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, a Catholic Church holiday which is often celebrated with an annual "blessing of the pets". Since then, it has grown to encompass all kinds of animal life and has been widely celebrated around the world. Churches and synagogues in many faiths traditions have adopted "Pet Blessing Day" or "World Animal Day" in increasing numbers every year.

The Interfaith Association of Animal Chaplains prepares for World Animal Day by referring its members and visitors to the official World Animal Day website. The site provides ideas and resources to individuals, families, community groups and congregations everywhere. People can post their pledge for volunteering at a World Animal Day event. In addition to blessing pets, volunteers will work at animal shelters, zoos, rescues, and other nonprofit organizations. Dogs will be walked, cats will be brushed, horses will be groomed, and fish will benefit from freshly cleaned tanks. Donations will be given to animal welfare agencies, and pets will be adopted. School children will collect pet food to be donated to charities, and bake sales and car washes will be held as fundraising events. Veterinary clinics will hold free spay and neuter days, or may offer to vaccinate pets at no charge. All over the world, on the very same day, the well-being of animals will be on the minds of millions of people.

Interfaith Chaplain Nancy Cronk feels a day honoring animals is very important at a time when the headlines speak of animal cruelty such as athlete Michael Vick's alleged ties to illegal dog fighting. Animal Chaplains would like everyone to know that every major faith endorses the responsible stewardship of the earth and all of its creatures. "Deliberate harming of animals is in direct opposition to teachings in all of the major world faiths. Caring for animals is our global spiritual responsibility. If we can teach this ethic to all of our children, animal abuse and suffering will someday become a distant memory".

Michael Vick seems to be escaping out the back door on a much lesser charge. I think he is getting off to easy and I think the federal prosecutors have dropped the ball.

I do not want him to pay with any flesh. I want the NFL suspend him, I want the Falcons to do the same, I want all sponsors to drop him.

Everything so far is temporary. He is still drawing a pay check and since he came into the NFL, his NFL pay checks and his sponsorships have been used to fund illegal activities, gambling, racketeering, animal cruelty, dog fights etc.

I am a fan of the NFL (originally a Bears fan, but an Atlanta transplant since 2002 about the time Vick came to town). I was a Michael Vick fan as well.

I feel that he has lied to the NFL, to the Falcons, to his sponsors, to his fans and NFL fans in general.

He has not apologized to anyone except 'the people he hurt' like his mother. That's great for his mother, I'm sure she is very proud of her son. But Michael Vick has damaged the NFL more than he helped it (and he had a lot of potential which he sabotaged).

I do not want to see him back on the field. I do not want to see him broadcast on TV during a game.

The NFL has been hiding behind the veil of allowing the federal authorities to carry out their investigation. That is nothing but a load of crap. They have been waiting to see if the scandal would blow over so that they can continue milking Vick like a prize bull.

If the NFL doesn't suspend him, if they don't allow the Falcons to stop funding him, then they are basically no better.

Look Vick has been accused of a serious crime. Racketeering

If the NFL was cutting a pay check to the Mafia every month for several million dollars and the Feds came in to investigate a gambling ring, and the NFL kept making payments pending the outcome, people would be just as outraged. (SEE NBA scandal for example)

I do not quite understand what you mean by "If not, what are you prepared to do since you don't support the coporation?"

I'm not sure if that refers to the NFL, to Nike, to the Falcons, to the corporation that is Michael Vick or what.

Michael Vick no longer has my support. He is not going to get it back. He needs to spend a lot of years atoning for his crimes IMHO. That could be partly done behind bars, but I'd prefer to see him spending a small part of that vast fortune of his to help the Humane society.

I think he needs to spend some time, a lot of time- (He spent over 5 years essentially torturing dogs or funding it) helping to take care of dogs at some of these shelters. I think he needs to spend some time with people that are the victims of dog maulings. Hell, I'd like to see him spend some time helping the NAACP promote some of their goals.

Vick has done nothing since gaining fame and fortune to make the world a better place. That is a waste and a tragedy considering all the potential that he had and the resources he commanded.

Its a free country and people can do what they please as long as they do not harm anyone or break the law.

I agree with this. Vick harmed people(gambling, racketereering, not paying taxes on gambling winnings - I could make a long list here, that harms people, real people). Vick broke the law.

Spending time in prison(which he has not done yet) doesn't fix what he has broken.

Prison doesn't solve any thing. We have over 2 million people in prison in the US and having them there doesn't fix any of the things they broke, the people they hurt nor does it compensate for the opportunities they trashed when they chose to harm and destroy as opposed to build a better country.

The ONLY thing that Vick has done so far is continue to lie to the NFL commissioner and the Falcons owner and hide behind some very good lawyers that seems to have been able to fool federal prosecutors into an easy deal (Martha Stewart could have been so lucky. ~ I'm no Martha fan and feel that she almost got what she deserved.)

I do not feel that justice was served with this plea agreement before the fact and if it goes through next Monday, then I will feel that Vick has escaped paying his legal debt to society just like he will probably avoid making recompense for the wrongs that he has done.

Vick is not such an exciting player, such an inspiration, such an entertainer, so much better than so many other players around the country that I want to see him playing in the NFL.

I'd rather see some schmuck come up from the Arena level and fill the position than see Vick play another day. I'd rather watch competition badminton than watch a single game of a season with Michael Vick playing in it.

If he comes back to the NFL and if they don't stop paying his legal bills through his pay check soon, I'll be pushing for an NFL boycott and more.

Life's far too short for me to spend my life watching someone that likes to torture dogs. I don't want to watch rapists, wife beaters, child rapists, or any crap like that either. I do not want to watch racists on public access channels, I do not want to support people with screwed up agendas. It just fuels their fire.

Vick is a sick puppy and he has shown that when given fame and fortune he will spend that fame and fortune to make other living creatures suffer.

There are people in the world that are worse than Vick. That is for sure, but I do believe that if Vick doesn't get some serious help, or if he is allowed to hide behind sycophants that tell him that his behavior is OK, and that he is a victim and crazy crap like that, he is going to spiral off the deep end. Allowing Vick to come back to the NFL next year, or 3 years, or 5 years from now if he has not done something major to fix what he has broken, will not be doing Vick any favors.

That's the type of crap that will allow this guy to keep going to extremes. Its that type of stuff that in part drives celebrities like Michael Jackson, and Mike Tyson, and OJ, and Lindsay Lohan and you name it, drives them nuts.

They start thinking that they are beyond reproach, beyond correction, beyond the rules of society and they lose track of what reality is and before you know it they are doing something even more screwed up, sleeping with little kids, killing their wife and kids, raping someone, or running around with an out of control drug habit.

Michael Vick needs to do something to fix what he has broken, not just to help heal the country, but to heal himself and possibly save himself.

(note. I used the word atone several times. I do not use that word in a religious way, just seemed like the best word at the time. Vick can go pray till the cows come home, but I want to see him do something positive not just talk.)

Vick is a sick puppy and he has shown that when given fame and fortune he will spend that fame and fortune to make other living creatures suffer.

There are people in the world that are worse than Vick. That is for sure, but I do believe that if Vick doesn’t get some serious help, or if he is allowed to hide behind sycophants that tell him that his behavior is OK, and that he is a victim and crazy crap like that, he is going to spiral off the deep end. Allowing Vick to come back to the NFL next year, or 3 years, or 5 years from now if he has not done something major to fix what he has broken, will not be doing Vick any favors.

That’s the type of crap that will allow this guy to keep going to extremes.

Michael Vick will pay his debt to society, but does he need to pay with a pound of flesh? DogLover332 you seem to want more than what the law of the land is prepared to sentence. My question is, are you a NFL fan? If not, what are you prepared to do since you don't support the corporation?

Matt,

I see Vick and George Bush being in the same league.

They both let atrocities happen on their watch at best and at worst were complicity or managing or engaged in those atrocities.

I am involved to have George Bush Impeached, you can check out my other blog at NoMoreIncumbents.org/blog/

All that said, Vick should be sacked from the NFL and the owners and commissioner should pay attention to the public because the public

funds NFL through ticket sales
buying all the stuff
watching all the advertisements
watching the games
paying for all of the stadiums across the country with tax payer money regardless of whether people are fans or not(its an ugly truth and most cities get ripped off)

This site is a warm up, to learn some better strategies that can be used in 2008 to get some of the corrupt politicians out of Washington.

If you are interested, we are always looking for more writers at NoMoreIncumbents.org.

Vick needs to go, and that deal is almost done.

Bush needs to go much more. He has just about brought our great country down all by himself.

We have got to turn this country back around, return our freedoms, and start operating like a civilized nation again.

Vick Sucks.

Bush and his administration Suck a lot more.
