doglover332.........Having read the blogs between yoursel & Skip.......I would have to say that I do agree with you. You make sense....You definitely are not a "nutjob" as he stated.........He actually concerns me....He has made the comment that Vick was prosecuted because of who he is, & that Vick was not involved very much......how can he arrive at that decision. In my opinion, he is biased. I am a regular law abiding citizen.ihave not committed any crime, nor am I invoved in any illicit activities...I work & I pay my bills & taxes diligenty. Why would I not expect others to do the same. Vick was found guilty of commiting felony crimes.he owes millions to banks in the U.S. & Canada..no payments made. ...he signed a contract with the Atlanta Falcons.....& breached it.......he breached his plea deal contract..........this man's word , in my opinion isuseless.he shows no respect for the law...& by virtue of his behaviour, shows no respect for his fans......he has made a mockery of theAmerican public. He is no hero. As a regular working stiff..I would boycott anything to do with this reprobate. My hard earned money will not support him in the NfL . I work too hard.....to support in anyway...this thief. He is a liability & embarassment to Sports of any nature. What he needs is to work in a regular job with regular pay.doing hard graft..like most of America....he needs to turn his head around..........& so do those who blindly support no matter what horrific or illegal act he commits. Your points are well made.

Hi Skip

In regards to your question

what gives you the right?

I will refer you to the First Amendment of the Constitution also know as the first right in the Bill of Rights. It is my opinion that he shouldn't be involved in the NFL going forward based on the actions that are publicly available. Under the bill of rights I can express this opinion and do so here on a website that I own and pay for in real money and with my own time and effort.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Also, as an NFL fan, I feel that the NFL, the Falcons, and Michael Vick have benefited (in small part) from me and all fans from watching their games. The Falcons, the NFL and Michael Vick directly and financially benefited from their fan base including myself, a former Vick and Falcon fan.

In essence, my support empowered Michael Vick with money to engage in the illegal shenanigans that he engaged in. He used to fan money, he used advertiser money, he used all of the money he earned (not claiming he didn't earn it) but he eanred it from us. As a fan that was partly responsible for his pay check, I therefore reserve the right to remove my support and

work to help other fans see the bad results achieved by Michael Vick from their support and the money that comes with that support.

I absolutely do not want to put more good money after bad and do not want to personally empower someone that in essence broke his social contract with all of us fans.

I can't erase in time the damage done, but I can work to prevent it from happening again and to redirect my support to the players in the NFL that show up and sacrifice their lives and bodies without screwing their fans over.

The world is flattening and more and more the fans have the right and the ability to be heard today. We do not have to live in a vacuum and just accept things the way they are. This is just one small area where I am trying to make a small difference. I am involved in many other areas where I am attempting to make a big difference. What I am saying is that this is not my only cause.

If you disagree with the cause so much that you feel that I am doing something wrong or feel that Vick needs someone to support him on the other side of the argument, I welcome you to invest your money and time and fight for what you believe in.

I definitely believe that more dialogue from both sides of this issue and almost all issues will help people find insights enough to make the world a little bit better.

Note, I do not use this next part as justification for my own actions, by I am definitely not alone in my belief and perspective. I am not attacking Vick just to attack him. I have no problems with him going into any other line of work (possible exception of working as a dog breeder). If this were politics, I'd basically be looking to impeach Vick from the NFL. The NFL itself is not completely in disagreement with me. They have indefinitely suspended Michael Vick. Personally, I think that the suspension should be permanent, and question that organization for not making it permanent. If they reinstate him in the future, then this campaign may change or expand to include the NFL as well.

SORRY FOR THE MISHAP DOGLOVER
The most unfortunate thing about this situation (to me) is that someone would actually take the time to promote him from returning to his career, how ridiculous. If he does his time, he should be allowed to continue with his career be it the NFL or whatever, he should be able to do that, just like any one else coming out of the prison. The question I have for you and yours is: what gives you the right?

first let me say your apology is truly accepted. I have had direct experience with the feds, I know first hand how plea deals are conducted. As for your opinion on micheal vick being a con artist that is truly your own personal opinion, which is okay. However vick did play for the falcons a number of years which made them a great deal of money. And again you nor I know just how deeply vick was involved in the gambling or the dog fighting, and the more I read and hear about it I don't think that his involvement was that much and that is my opinion. I have done things that I am truly sorry for (that I mean from the botton of my heart) and I have asked for forgiveness and I have been forgiven, I thank God for that everyday. I don't know ehat the goals were that you stated you have accomplished (I can only imagine) and to be honest I don't want to know. Because vick knew a drug dealer who was murdered doesn't mean it had anything to do with him, and to suggest that without knowing that for a fact in my opinion is wrong.

My initial comment was directed toward PETA I notice you stay away from that subject.

My apologies skip for misunderstanding part of your comments before.

As this is a blog, most of the articles here are my opinion and the comments are the opinions of others. The site does provide reference to news, but I do not consider myself a journalist in any way, shape or form.

My own experience with the feds is limited to some experiences I had working as a whistleblower against a Chinese company that was breaking several laws. Plus, I have several friends that work for the FBI and Homeland Security that I went to school with several years ago. I am not surprised by your experiences with them at all. It sounds fairly par for the course in dealing with most people actually inside government or out.

As to my opinion that Vick might be a con artist, I came to consider that possibility from the perspective that he established a contract worth over $100 million with the Falcons, that contract had a moral terpitude clause and prevented him from gambling, yet based on the news reports that have come out, he seems to have started gambling on dog fights within just a few weeks after signing that contract and then he continued to do that up until a few weeks before the feds seized his property.

So in a general sense if a con artist is a person that takes money from another person under false pretenses, then I think Vick might just qualify for the label.

In general, this site was not a news site, but a site dedicated to promoting Michael Vick from the NFL permanently. That is stated in our mission and we cover the reasons for that in several of our early articles. We had several other goals, but all of those have been accomplished. As it stands it looks like Michael Vick will be heading back to the NFL in about a year and a half.

Our goal is to continue to promote the prevention of his return, unless something substantial were revealed that would make us reconsider our mission. While all of the facts may not be present in this case, I believe that Michael Vick did have it within his control to choose to live as a decent person and to manage his affairs and property in a way that would have prevented most of the crimes that were committed directly by him and by those crimes that happened around him, which includes the murder of a North Carolina man about twenty some miles from where I reside today.

As the Feds do not always play entirely fair, I do not necessarily see any reason why Vick or his attorneys have to play fair (as long as both sides are within the law). I do not necessarily want to see Michael Vick rot in jail forever. However, I do not want to see him return to football where he will regain the power and soapbox that comes with that spot light. I think that is bad for society and for the NFL. So I have no qualms in pushing for him to find a new career and purpose in life. Its something that happens to most Americans a half dozen times in their lives these days, and I see no reason why Michael Vick should be a special exception.
