After Playing Dogs to Death, Vick is Playing NFL Fans for Chumps

The same guy that took hundreds of millions of dollars fan dollars through the NFL and sponsors, and then used that money to buy dogs for dog fighting and gambling wants $10 million per year to play again.

The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback is hoping to earn as much as $10 million a year or more, according to court filings in his bankruptcy case. Under the plan he submitted to the court, Vick would keep the first $750,000 of his annual income over the next five years. After that, a percentage would go to his creditors based on a sliding scale.  ajc.com

It would appear that Michael Vick missed his true calling.  He should scrub the idea of going back to work in the NFL and try and get a job at AIG.  Are you half surprised that he doesn’t want bail out money too?  He does have to pay off the debt from the wreckage of bad business deals, lies, and broken promises that he left in his wake.  Why shouldn’t the government step in and help him if he is so important to the future of the NFL after all?

Even if you buy the argument of whether or not Michael Vick is theoretically worth $10 million per year based on his former skills multiplied by about 2-3 years of the field and in confinement, the reality is that he’s not worth $50,000 per year.  (not unless Vick is paying $50,000 a year to play!)

Vick is heading to his bankruptcy trial on Thursday, afterwards, he will be returned to prison until May when he will be released on home arrest to one of his remaining mansions.

There are many many fans, dog lovers, and dog loving, fans that do not want to see Michael Vick return to the NFL based on what he did.  I doubt even Michael Vick would want to place a bet on how many blue collar workers that were out raged by the bonuses paid to Wall Street (bonuses that were a lot lower than a salary of $10 million per year) are going to be outraged when Michael Vick, convict, can step out of prison and sign a deal with their fan money for $10 million.

That’s the thing that some people don’t quite get.  They say, the man served his time for killing dogs, let him go back to work.  Well like banks getting bailed out with tax payer money, the NFL and their sponsors like Nike, live on something very similar to tax payer money, its called fan money.  And all of our fan money, hundreds of millions of dollars that went to Michael Vick helped him do what he did, kill the dogs that he did, hang out with other people that killed dogs too across multiple states, and promoted a criminal atmosphere that led to the murder of one of Vick’s dog suppliers and owner opponent in the rings.  The NFL didn’t fully experience the start of the financial crisis last year.  After all Wall Street banks were still throwing $700,000 NFL parties on location during football games with taxpayer money.  But times have changed a lot since the NFL season ended.

The NFL is inviting a severe fan dollar backlash if they allow Vick back in the league with a salary that would make a Wall Street fat cat drool and sell an asset backed security to any given small town for 10x its value.  The NFL can let Vick back in within an environment where fans can’t afford to go to the games as much nor spend as much while they are there and where advertisers are cutting back left and right.  The NFL can bring him back, but it is a very bad strategic move.  It will be bad for business and bad for football.

Michael Vick took our fan money and committed those crimes, and now he wants $10 million per year from us to pay for the things he should have paid for with the first few hundred million dollar he took from us.  Plus, he wants to pocket $750k per year just for himself.  Do you have $10 million or even an extra $750k lying around to waste, and even if you did, do you really want to spend it so that Michael Vick can go play a football game to maintain mansions in two states and a $2 million penthouse condo in South Beach?

If you say yes, while you are at it would you vote a corrupt politician back into office after serving their time in prison to get a fat tax payer funded salary?  Obviously, many of us would not and we do want to see Michael Vick do essentially the same with a fan funded salary for $10 million.  If Obama can’t bailout the Big three automakers, then why should fans, especially those looking at a future on the unemployment roles bail out Michael Vick, a man that has proven he’s not to big to fail, but can’t quite seem to prove that he’s big enough to survive with out hand outs from fans.

    hi All

You know there alot of things that people do out there and we as humans make mistakes in our lives. Its sad to see that many of you out there were huge fans of vick and turned against him because of ill-treating a dog. What i dont understand is people spend $$$$$$$ in buying clothes and expensive foods for cats and dogs and its hard for them to give a poor man a simple dollar. Im not an American citizen by no means and people are breathing down vicks neck when he deservce a second chance

    Thants my view

Im praying for you Vick – ull get through this

  • Thanks for your perspective Esco. I completely agree. Just think how much better things could have been if Vick had given a simple dollar or two or even a few thousand instead of spending hundreds of thousands on dogs so that he could kill them and gamble on them. Even worse he used fan money given to him to do all that. Very disappointing, but no point in getting burned twice.

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime.

Give a man a fish, and he trades it for a dog and then slaughters the dog for fun and sport, I say he doesn’t deserve another fish. Let him learn how to fish for himself.

  • I Maria Melton am so”SICK” of hearing Michael Vick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Deserves a second chance.
He should “NEVER” be aloud to play in the NFL ever
again……..He was truly blessed and was to damn dumb to realize it.Everybody else that has read this story should be smart enough to know that he doesnt deserve a second chance. When your murdered like my brother was there is no second chance. Aren’t we talking about equal justice here? Would someone please tell me where the HELL you see equal or justice. To everyone else that was involved in the sport they should be held liable for there actions too. And thank God that they are there familys were not the ones that were murdered and dealing with the shit that i am dealing with everyday. I have truly tried to be polite about the whole situation and now i am seriously tired of being polite to all of the people that have something negative to say about my brother or something positive to say about Michael Vick. As far as I am concerned he is a greedy bastard. sincerely, Maria Melton

  • Esco 33:

Madam melton – u have some serious issues… lol lol lol u need help – probably a epidermal lol – Im cracking up myself. No offense alright, its just that i had a different view on the whole situation. Vick deserves another chance but the question is, would NFL give him that chance. They know how much money they get (which is the only thing they look at) and they wouldnt want to risk putting him back on the field – even if he becomes .5seconds faster

Im on ur side Vick – may the Lord be with you and Im behind you

    God Bless

  • Madam Esco33:] Your right I do have some issues, do you have a PHD to figure that out? My borhter was MURDERED I dont know anyone that wouldn’t have issues if you brother was murdered and i could give a DAM less what your personal opinion is about me. Lets step outside the box for a minute . Don’t know if you have family or not. Obviously you do not because you definetly do not have a soul. and are you an american citizen. I DIDNT THINK SO. So why in the hell does your opinion count? Anyone that would want Michael Vick to play in the NFL needs a mental evaluation. I dont have a PHD and I can tell you that i have good reason to have issues now what are yours? HELLUR. Obviously I can tell what your main issues are here, it is who can run a ball faster not about what the person has done to get kicked out of the NFL. With all of that being said, I really dont think that you should bring God into this issue because it seems to me that football means more to you than another huiman beings life! My prayers are with my brother and Michael Vick. But they have nothing to do with the NFL. The only thing that i want out of all of this is whoever played a part in my brothers murder, to get equal justice. Go see a therapist. Sincerely Maria melton

  • Oh and by the way esco33 an EPIDERMAL HAS TO DO WITH YOUR SKIN NOT MENTAL PROBLEMS YOU FREAK!

  • alphonzo miller:

Americans are so dumb. America is a place for second chances if he serves his time he has the right to make a living. The problem I have with all you people on blogs and news outlets is that he was killing dogs!!!!! It crazy how people forget that Lenard little of Rams killed a person and never spent one day in jail!!! people get a grip little still in the NFL and I’m sorry I don’t care how big or a dog lover or not you, a dog is not more important than a human life so what’s good for little is good for Vick.

  • alphonzo are you saying americans are dumb for giving people second chances and then saying we are dumb for not giving Vick a second chance in the NFL? Sorry, but I don’t understand what you are trying to say.

Vick’s actions caused a lot more harm besides the deaths of dogs (paid for with fan money). There was a lot of collateral damage that harmed the NFL, the Falcons, Nike, and other sponsors, and even the deaths of a person, Bud Melton, one of the people Vick apparently bought dogs off of and fought dogs against, and one of the people that appears to have been mentioned in the affidavits against Vick as a witness. A witness that was murdered 8 days after Vick’s home was raided by the feds.

I’m all for giving Vick a second chance but not in the NFL. If Michael Vick had been a day care worker that molested or abused kids, he would not be allowed to go back to work in a daycare after he got out of prison. If he sold crack, he would not be allowed to go back to selling crack after he got out of prison.

We’re not saying he doesn’t deserve a second chance (can’t believe he was such a moron to blow the amazing chance he had the first time around, but that’s a different conversation). We’re simply saying that Vick’s second chance should have nothing to do with the NFL.

  • Doglover332,
I dont understand what you are saying?Where did you see my brothers name on a affidavit???Bud was murdered”EIGHT DAYS BEFORE”Micheal Vick’s house
was raided.Im his sister and i have been regular
contact with the local police and higher authuroties, and you know more than i do.If what you are saying is true i sure would love to see it and what would the FBI have reason not to let that be known????Today is two years to the day and it would sure help me understand why someone”KILLED”Bud if that is possible……..
    Confused,Maria

  • Alphonzo,
Im sorry, I truly do not understand your comment. Were talking about two different things
here.My brother was in his”HOME”and someone or more came to his home and brutaly murdered him.
This means that someone strategically planned this
    horrific crime out,and i do mean”PLANNED”!!!!!!
My brother was very strict about who came to his
home. All i am saying is that we are talking about
two different scenarios and im not seeing the
connection…However DEATH is a horrible thing no
    matter how it happens.
    Sincerly,Maria

  • By midnight tonight roybudmelton.com will be officially be up and running. I am personally inviting whoever that really wants to know what happened regarding the life and murder of Roy “Bud” Melton.

  • The sequence of events may be out of order. The testimony used to indict Vick mentioned several witnesses (not named), but one of those witness from North Carolina and the dogs he sold to Vick seem to match up with the names of dogs that Bud may have utilized. (there’s an older article here on the site that goes into this more in depth).

As I understand it the Feds never cooperated with the local sheriff that was investigating Bud’s death. Its been some time now, and I do not know if the Sheriff ever received any cooperation months after the fact. Until that happens (and maybe until the facts are released to either your family or the public) we may never know if there is a relationship or just a coincidence of timing.

  • thank you for replying because i really did not understand. I totally understand your concept now. I misunderstood what you were saying i thought that you meant you saw Bud’s name on an affidavit. Also i would like for you to check out the first blog that i have posted on roybudmelton.com. Please accept my apology it was a total misunderstanding.

  • Also doglover332 i was wodnering if it was ok to post state document information or county information on my blog roybudmelton.com

  • elprofesor2112:

I just want to say that after my 10 years selling black tar heroin to illegally trafficked underage Thai male prostitutes while funneling the proceeds to a terrorist cell in North Korea planning to detonate dirty bombs in every Starbucks in the U.S. simultaneously on Christmas after ritually preforming late-term abortions on a polygamous sect of bank-robbing nuns… I am SOOOOOOOOO GLAD that the NFL let me back into the League so I could become a role model again :-) What a country…

  • @elprofesor2112 lol

  • DogLover332,
I was wishing to see you on bud,s page.I hope you will find time to visit it.
    Sincerly,
    Maria

  • alphonzo miller:

What I was trying to say is that L. Little of the rams killed a woman. and he received a second chance. As bad as what Vick did killing dogs is never going to be as bad as killing a woman. So after he pays his debt to society he deserves the right to go back to his employer. Also I don’t see the Cleveland browns receiver all over the news who just killed a man in Miami but when he gets out of jail he will be allowed back in the league. Dog lovers need to get a grip he’s did his time get over it you got justice what else do you want…..

    • petvolunteer:

Vick was under investigation for the murder of Bud Melton, a human. He was supposed to after getting out on the dog killing charges stand trial for the murder and killing of a human. Bud did not get a second chance, why? Cause he doesnt play ball. Bud had hard core evidence against vick but that all disappeared when Bud was found killed excecution style.

Vick killed more than dogs. I f ully believe it was Vick who killed Bud, but it cant be prooven yet, although the authorities are working on it inspite of what seems like cops and govnt officials in those states having received hush money. Maybe vick did not kill him but he knows how to give orders and he was killed very much like Vick would kill his dogs,so he may have just ordered a mutual buddy to kill him and paid the guy and told him how to kill him. So yes I am a dog lover but I also love humans,do football fans love the life of humans or is that forgivable too as long as you can toss some pigskin?

As for bringing up God. Not everyone knows all of the 10 commandments but everyone knows a very famous one “though shal not kill” and yes it was probably directed at humans so the person killing Bud should not have done so and thats one commandment ALL religions or most believe in.

Vick and Bud were both dogfighers, why is the dead of one cheered and the other everytime he goes on the field? There is no difference between these two from that standpoint. Bud never asked to be a role model for kids and to be on tv, Vick did.

Everyone always said the killing of dogs will Lead to the killing of humans, now we know it will not LEAD to it in this case cause it already happened around the same time. Who else would have something to gain from the evidence against Vick disapearing and a potential star witnesses death?

If you are for a second chance for vick, than you have to be f or a second chance for Bud. This comment if for everyone.

      • Max:

Petvolunteer, 99 percent of those defending Michael Vick wouldn’t give a damn about what happened to him if he couldn’t play football. You don’t see them out campaigning for other felons to get second chances in society.
I believe the same people who say “they were just dogs” when they are arguing in favor of Vick would claim Bud Melton’s murder is no big deal because he was involved with an illegal dogfighting operation.
Life is cheap but pro football is big business so if you want to get away with murder, just make sure you can make money for a sports franchise and all will be forgiven by too large a segment of the population

  • I disagree Alphonzo, but do agree that Little and the Cleveland browns receiver should not be in the NFL.

There would be no double standard here if the NFL didn’t hire killers back into the league. I used to work for the Postal Service years ago, and we sure as hell didn’t hire anyone back that killed anyone.

  • I have sat back and watched comment after comment on the internet about Michael Vick and him being in the NFL and I am absolutely tired of it. My brother was murdered and Michael Vick is written all over it. In my opinion until my brothers unsolved murder is solved that should be more important to the society than whether that piece of crap Michael Vick should be able to play in the NFL.

    Sincerely,
    Maria

P.S Doglover you never respond to my comments or emails anymore and you havent even looked at buds site (roybudmelton.com). I am starting to wonder about you Doglover…

  • paulette sheflin:

No way should Vick ever be paid to play pro football again. I hope, if some NFL team is iinsensitive enough to hire the bloke, that the stands will be empty in any city on any day when he sets foot on the field. He is not human–I believe that requires a soul, a heart, a conscience.

  • who do you think Vick should play for.

  • Rebecca:

    Vick should never play. EVER
HE Shouldn’t be out of jail.

  • John:
