Will You Boycott A Team That Hires Michael Vick?
Michael Vick is free (officially) now. What does that mean for you?
It is pretty obvious where we stand on the concept of Michael Vick going back into the NFL. We are completely against it and have been since day 1. He served his time paying his debt to society, but like a cop that commits a crime or a laywer or even a CPA, we don’t think Michael Vick should get his old job back nor a job like it in the same profession. We are not going to dog him, threaten him, or even wish him any ill or problem. More power to him actually if he rebuilds his life and becomes a model citizen, but just not in the NFL.
That’s what we think, What do you think about Michael Vick playing in the NFL? More importantly what are you prepared to do about it? If Michael Vick gets picked up by a team in your area, will you boycott games? Will you boycott the team’s game on TV? Will you protest? If he is allowed to play in the NFL, will you boycott everything from the entire league including the superbowl

John I agree with you 100 percent I am going to protest any team that hires him and comes to my town to play ball
I will be right out side protesting not buying a ticket ever if the team has Vicks on it
What is wrong with the commisioner? He (Vick) has spent 18 mo. in a country club —- working with the Humane Society —- is a complete absurdity!!!!! Do not support any team that takes him. Did he not make enough money to pay for his defense and have some left? He would have if he had not played innocent for so long. Let him see the real world again.
I KNOW THAT GOD WILL FORGIVE ALL SINS INCLUDING DOG KILLERS BUT THERE ARE REPERCUSSIONS FOR THINGS ONE DOES IN THIS WORLD.VICKS SHOULD NOT BE REWARDED WITH A HIGH PAYING NFL JOB
I will boycott any and all sponsors of any team that hires Vick.
Hell yeah! I’m with you!
The NFL has spent the last 10+ years trying to get more female fans. Now they want us to overlook a vicious murderer just because he completed his prison time. I watch football every Sunday, WITH MY DOG on the couch.
Convicted felons lose the right to vote. Many professions bar members who are convicted criminals. The heinous nature of his crimes speak volumes about what kind of person he is.
NFL shouldn’t want that kind of “talent”. I know I definitely don’t.
Everyone! read and learn, in this country it does not matter what you do, all that matters is the bottom line! We can’t expect these owner, and sponsors to act solely on morels and acceptable values, they have demonstrated this for year. I challenge you all to do a search for *list* of nfl player that have been brought up on charges it will astonish you. Now I know everybody is not perfect, far from it, but not everybody can afford to buy themselves out of trouble. This is just another example of the two tier system we are so willing to accept. I love the game I live it six or so months of the year but personally I believe enough is enough IT’S TIME TO SAY NO, TIME TO VOICE OUR OPINIONS AND HAVE THEM BE HEARD . Or we can sit back become complacent and justify it for the love of the game! I KNOW HOW I FEEL, I WOULD RATHER PLAY SCRABBLE THEN ACCEPT ANY MORE OF THIS ! RODGER BE CAREFUL YOU MAY GO INTO HISTORY FOR SINKING THE SHIP!
I won’t boycott the NFL but I will Boycott any team that signs him even my own. I would hope that someone would advise who the sponsors are so I can boycott their products. I wouldn’t know since I won’t be watching the game.
Currently the only remaining sponsor that Michael Vick seems to have is the NFL itself.
I will boycott any NFL team who signs Mike Vick, attend protests against the team, and protest the sponsors of that NFL team. More importantly, I will boycott all sponsors of the NFL who allow their commercials to be played during game time. Affecting the NFL sponsors is the only way to put pressure on the individual teams.
First of all YaBoyMartell get a life. I looked at your website and it makes sense whay you talk the way you do. Get off your fat ass and check out the pictures of the dogs after they fought. Your a sick [edited 4 letter word]. Vic is a sick human being. Another thing…all of you who say they are just dogs..Any man who can do this to an animal can do it to a human. I live in a country where you cant abuse anything. Do I think he needs a second chance, yes. Do I think he should play footbal and earn the kind of money, no. He needs to work in a humane society and clean up shit for the rest of his life. He needs to give back to the animals that he has taken so much from. I will protest the team who picks him up, and I will boycott all products associated with this man. And another thing this isnt a black white issue. If he were white everyone whould be just as pissed. Shame on him, and what comes around goes around in my book.
The NFL should be ashamed for reinstating Vick and for the ignorance it has shown in it’s lack of fully understanding what he has done….read the court transcripts NFL!!! or change your name to the National Felony League. I’ve never missed a super bowel, but I will this year and I’ll never watch another one if he signs with any team.
These vick promoters who lye about the facts that surround vick’s behaviors have to know that all they are accomplishing is hurting vicks cause.. I have not heard one of these people bring forth one positively viable concept concerning vick. When they say that vick deserves a second chance. That is a lye.. When they say that vick only is involved with killing dogs. That is a lye.. When they say that vick has done his time. That is a lye.. And so on and so on. The fact is vcik has had many chances. When it is said that vick was only involved in killing dogs these people should get the facts. vick is still under investigation in a murder in south carolina where a fellow dog fighting cohort was murdered in his own home after winning a dog fight against vick and company. The facts are that vick is a very sick individual and needs help. Yet no one is interested in helping vick. All they are interested in is how well he is going to help their football team or how well they can pat themselves on the back for taking some sort of tainted moral stance that includes vick and him not having done anything wrong. If these vick compatriots are truly interest in vicks well being they will stop attempting to minimize his behavior and accept it for the anti-social behavior that it is.
One concept that seems to have taken hold that I am not on the side of and disagree with is this business of people expressing that vcik has paid his dept to society.. I don’t know exactly how and were this expression got it’s momentum but it’s substance is absolutely in error. vick has paid his dept to the laws of the government of this country and as such it is true that he is not wanted for any unfinished business involving the laws of this country. As for him having paid his dept to humanity for running afoul of the unwritten morals and ethics of humanity past and present it is clear that he has not done what is necessary. These unwritten morals and ethics are in fact the basis for all of the written laws of the present society in which we all live. Most people don’t have to have these morals and ethics sketched out for them. They know of them without having to have them explained. In other words most people don’t have to be told not to string up and torture animals with obvious disrespect in their death.. Most people don’t have to be informed of the negative aspects of deriving perverted enjoyment in getting high while torturing defenseless animals who happen to share their lives with them. vick for what ever reason is either unaware of or does not respect these unwritten morals and ethics. The present day majority obviously feel that vick’s behaviors have run afoul of these unwritten rules and laws and are expressing their dissatisfaction with an individual who selfishly disrespects these unwritten morals and ethics. It is simply nothing more than this.
I will boycott the games in full and I will continue to express my distaste for all that vick stands for.
For someone to do what he did is unacceptable in our world. I believe do unto others as you do to them.
– These cratures are loving and willing to do anything to please their master…Vick chose to abuse and degrade life.
– I will NOT support any team that supports him.
Ticket holder 49ers.
I am a huge Gianst fan, but will boycott the entire NFL, or MFL as it now should be called.
What Vick was involved in is totally unacceptable. And for him to be re-instated uis even more unacceptable.
I think a demonstration should occur outside the stadium of all games that Vick is playing. Does anyone know if there are any being organized?
Absolutely! A few of us began a group out of Dogster and have begun a letter writing campaign directed against the NFL. We’ve also opted not to purchase any product endorsed with an NFL log. When word filters out that a team expresses interest, we send letters, emails and even contact via telephone. We are not going to behave as ‘sheeple’.
This is an awesome site, by the way. I’ve posted the mailing information you provided for the state of Virginia on our site, and we’ll begin sending our communicaes to those powers that be in VA.
Send letters people – they can’t ignore the masses
I will boycott anything NFL if Micheal Vick is picked up by any team.
Like Will Horton above said, “vick has paid his dept to the laws of the government of this country and as such it is true that he is not wanted for any unfinished business involving the laws of this country. As for him having paid his dept to humanity for running afoul of the unwritten morals and ethics of humanity past and present it is clear that he has not done what is necessary.”
I think he belongs in his $10 an hour construction job AND $5 an hour should go to the rescues that housed and rehabilitated his dogs.
He should never play football again
I will not boycot the NFL. I don;t know why this is being blown out of proportion. No one loves animals more than I. I’ve had dogs my whol life I’m 50 years old. So that’s a lot of love for dogs. Michael made a mistake. To Err is human to forgive is divine. Remember what Jeaus said How can you claim to love me & not your brother: & one more thing VENGENCE is MINE sayeth the LORD11111
Michael Vick did make several mistakes. He had great things going for him and a very bright future. But then he decided that just for the fun of it, he would take these dogs, gods creatures, and fight them, abuse them, electrocute them and dispose of the bodies. He has been punished by the federal government, but to reinstae him after all this would just be a slap in the face to civilized society and the justice system itself. You are right about the bible quotes. But isnt the guily party supposed to apologize and really accept that what they have done was wrong?? Oh he did apologize to his fans-only because he got caught. He has NEVER ONCE expressed any emotion or regret for what he did to those poor animals. I cannot forgive someone who has been so hateful and vile, but yet only regrets letting their fans down and having to go to jail.
What Vick did was not a mistake. IT was a purposeful act of cruelty. He committed these heinous acts over and over again for many years, taking pleasure in shooting, electrocuting, maming and torturing innocent animals for ego and greed. Mistakes are forgiveable. Acts of pure torture done willingly many times over are UNforgiveable.
I vow to boycott any team that reinstates Vick and will work hard to pass the message onto to all I know. It’s time for compassion to come back into society.
I truly hate this person and every one like him. I have friends who aren’t even real animal lovers like I am and they do not think he should ever be allowed in back into the NFL or society. He is so remiss of any decency and should be shunned for life. He is only remorseful to regain his place back into football. I will not watch any game in which he plays and would give up my two favorite teams in a heartbeat if they were to hire him. I wish him the worst in life and hope he has nightmares for what he did. He’s despicable.
I am passing along petitions and boycott info to Vick forum Topix. This petition is doing well.
http://www.PetitionOnline.com/ridofvic/petition.html
Thanks Rebecca, I’ve updated our petition page!
Yes. I would boycott them and would be very tempted to boycott the entire NFL.
Absolutely.
I just tortured myself on that Michael Vick fBuk “just fans” comment entries.
So many of them write, “they’re just dogs”
and people make mistakes, god will forgive you,
Well I dont know if there’s a god thats gonna forgive michael vick, maybe gettin booed off field and activists in the crowd, drop in corp. sponsorships because of all the boycotts he’s causing,
is part of his punishments.
Maybe god will save yr soul from hell fire if thats how you wanna put it, but not before he throws you to the sharks & lets us have a little chomp chomp out of you.
If the law doesn’t think what you did was a big deal & just gave you a slap on the hand (aw, did it hurt to have to spend money on lawyers instead of on your sick games?)don’t think you dont have a HUGE price to pay to society.
This is going to take a while, but i know you can get through this, please go to rehabilitation Mr. Vick, please.
Also,
in this wonderful economy,
your Dollar$ are your power piece.
hold on to them.
show them you aren’t messing around.
tell me again michael vick,
why are you too goood to play for the UFL?
i thought you loved football….
I am estatic that Michael Vick has been reinstated to the NFL. Hopefully this ordeal has taught him a lessen. I’m trying to understand the logic in comments being made on this blog. Is it that you A.) don’t want Vick to play in the NFL b/c it wouldn’t be a good role model or B.) you don’t want Vick to her a substantial 7 figure income? My point is that if Vick never played football again but set out on some other business venture that made him millions, you people still wouldn’t be satisfied. Although he lost millions, he is still by the average citizen’s standards rich. And that it is what people truly hate.
I’m a dog lover by the way:)
And another thing, professional athletes are not responsible for being your child’s role model. It is the job of the parents to do so. Why would anyone think otherwise?? I don’t have children but when I do I would never encourage them to emulate any famous athlete, singer, actor, etc….they’re complete strangers.
Fans who watch football on tv and are stating they will boycott the NFL or any team that picks him up are just plain stupid and liars. Besides that who cares….NFL franchises don’t make money off you watching a game at home!! If you’re a season ticket holder.
He may have served his sentence, but he has not shown contrition. He’s only sorry he got caught torturing dogs to death. The man is a psychopath; and, if a team gives him a contract and allows him to make a living the NFL, then the League will lose the public’s good will, which is important when it comes to things like public financing of stadiums, corporate sponsorships, advertising, etc. He can wash cars for a living, I don’t care; but, if he plays in this city’s publicly financed stadium, I will extremely disappointed.
For all of you squawking about him not being a role model, you may not be aware that his jersey was one of the most popular in the NFL until he was caught slamming dogs to death against the pavement and dousing them with water while electrocuting the poor souls because they wouldn’t fight. The NFL works very hard to build role models through all of their charitable endeavors…we can’t always control who our kids pick as role models, but I won’t allow Vick on my TV unless he’s doing another perp walk.
And if you choose to boycott all NFL sponsors be prepared to stop drinking Coors, switch your assets from Bank of America, stop watching ESPN, throw away your Visa debit/credit card, stop drinking Coke and Pepsi products, stop buying anything made by Proctor and Gamble (way too much to list), no more pancakes from Ihop, purchase large amounts of paper and pencils b/c you can’t communicate via Sprint, Nextel, Altell, Verizon, trade in your GM vehicles, have your children who play little league sports trash all their equipment made by Riddell, don’t watch any network affiliated with Fox, disconnect your cable if you have DirecTV, stop flying Southwest Airlines (even if they have the cheapest tickets avail), no Tropican products, goodbye Ebay, cancel all policies held by Statefarm insurance, get rid of any IBM products (if you work in health care of finance just quit, much of the equipment used is made by IBM), donate all your Nike products to your local Salvation Army, all EA sports video games, abandon your Ford vehicles (crap anyways), no more FedEx, trash any phone or product by Motorola, no more Gatorade, Time Warner Cable (which owns nearly everything you watch on tv). I could go on but I think you get it now.
SHUT UP AND WATCH VICK PLAY!!!
ATL Vick Fan:
Do you understand the economics of the NFL? Seriously, have you ever voted on a bond referendum? Do you know how those luxury suits are finananced? Have you ever read a Balance Sheet or Income Statement?
Michal Vick’s career is either over or will be over in the next couple years, but the NFL will continue. Do you recall the uproar when the Colts, Browns, and Oilers moved to new cities? They did so because the public agreed to tax-free bond issues and public financing. The fans in the cities they abandoned accepted their replacements with alacrity. The NFL exists on the public’s good will, which will be lost to any team who signs Vick. Good will and brand equity are the two most important assets an NFL franchise has.
If the Cowboys’ airplane crashed into their new stadium, the franchise could rebuild, and quickly. But, if they signed Vick to a contract, the Texans would pick up a bunch of new fans. This is the case with every team, because every team has huge numbers of dog lovers who cannot forgive him for what he did.
Phil Williams:
You’re the first perfect man I’ve met. It has become a trend to have children out of wedlock in Hollywood. This is a poor example that DOES have significant effects on teenagers. I haven’t heard of anyone banning Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, Nicole Richie, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Jamie-Lynn Spears, and Minnie Driver to name a few.
ATL…It’s the other way around. Businesses work very hard for customer acquisition and they don’t like this sort of controversy….Vick brings a lot of it. Each of those businesses have competitors. Vick is radioactive. Remember, what Vick brings you in the short term, will cost you dearly…Besides, he’s a mediocre QB who couldn’t make the playoffs. ATL is better off without him, wouldn’t you agree? I thought they did pretty well last year after he left the Falcons’ ownership, management, coaching staff, teammates and loyal fans in the lurch to satisfy his sick, twisted psychosis.
I may not be perfect, but I never tortured animals, and I don’t think Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, Nicole Richie, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Jamie-Lynn Spears, and Minnie Driver have either; otherwise, I would boycott them too.
I can think of a few people I don’t like in sports: Roger Clemens, Koby Bryant, Mark Chumura…they also never tortured dogs.
ATL: You seem like a nice enough person, which has me wondering: Why are you so pre-Vick? Are you related in some way? What’s wrong with Matt Ryan?
In 16 starts, completed 265 of 434 passes for 3,440 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions for an 87.7 passer rating. He turned your team into a winner and he doesn’t have any baggage, i.e. killing dogs, spreading STDs, or flipping off home town fans.
Phil Williams:
Understood…which has a more lasting effect on children. Having Michael Vick kill dogs or seeing Michael Phelps smoke marijuana. I dont see little Johnny killing his neighbors dog b/c of Vick but I sure see Johnny, Billy and Amanda all experimenting with illegal drugs b/c of Phelps. What’s the difference?? I didn’t hear of any boycotts on the Olympics or it’s sponsors.
This Vick/NFL thing is NOT about what he did…it’s about who he is (rich African-American male). And that’s the primary reason why people choose not to forgive him and want to see him nailed to the cross.
Ahhh, so it’s race thing. I get it. Well, I have two words: Mark Chmura (a white, Republican who graduated from BC)
Despite being acquitted of child enticement and third-degree sexual assault, the Packers cut him with three years on his contract and no other NFL team picked him up despite completing 188 receptions in 90 games, and accumulating 2,253 yards and 17 touchdowns in his short 7-year career.
Vick was convicted and served time in prison after lying, suborning perjury, and obstructing the investigation. What’s really sad is that Vick had so much going for him and he could have been a great role model to many African American kids, but he chose to be a sub-human.
Please stop trying to draw moral equivalences. Vick was convicted of a serious crime. Frankly, I’m surprised the Feds didn’t get him for racketeering, money laundering and interstate gambling. He was a kingpin in a criminal enterprise, he wasn’t simply smoking some dope at a college party, although I understand he used a water bottle to conceal some weed himself, so I guess he was, like Phelps, also guilty of getting stoned, although Phelps didn’t torture dogs to death.
