Will You Boycott A Team That Hires Michael Vick?
Michael Vick is free (officially) now. What does that mean for you?
It is pretty obvious where we stand on the concept of Michael Vick going back into the NFL. We are completely against it and have been since day 1. He served his time paying his debt to society, but like a cop that commits a crime or a laywer or even a CPA, we don’t think Michael Vick should get his old job back nor a job like it in the same profession. We are not going to dog him, threaten him, or even wish him any ill or problem. More power to him actually if he rebuilds his life and becomes a model citizen, but just not in the NFL.
That’s what we think, What do you think about Michael Vick playing in the NFL? More importantly what are you prepared to do about it? If Michael Vick gets picked up by a team in your area, will you boycott games? Will you boycott the team’s game on TV? Will you protest? If he is allowed to play in the NFL, will you boycott everything from the entire league including the superbowl

If I’m ever driving in any of you people’s neighborhoods and see your child w/family dog run out in the street in front of my car…I’ll be sure to swerve and miss your dog. At least I know that my running over little Johnny and not Rex will be forgiven my most Americans. Ridiculous…
Matt Ryan is a great QB not very exciting. He’s a stand up, respectable guy. The hype surrounding his rookie year will die down and we’ll see what he’s truly made of. In my opinion he’s overrated.
I am aquainted with Vick, but that has nothing to do with my feelings on his unjust treatment.
Note: Ticket sales were down for the Falcons in 2008 and 2007 compared to 2006 and 2005. Reason being, people paid to see “The Mike Vick” show.
I’ve heard that rumor too but approx 45 million people (1 in 5 adults) have HSV-1 and/or HSV-2, request a PCR or antibody test the next time you have your annual physical…you may be surprised at the results.
Matt Ryan is exciting to watch and he contibutes positively to the fans and to hs community, and he is NOT A sociopath/psycopath LIKE HIS PREDECESSOR
Michael Vick should not be allowed back in football, but be treated like he treated those dogs. It would be unexceptable for any NFL team to even consider him playing for them. LOOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree 100% with you.
Another thing…Mike Vick is far from Christ-like. Poor choice of words. He’s far from a victim in all of this.
This is this creep’s rap sheet before the dog abuse conviction, but of course it’s all racially motivated:
Between his selection by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2001 NFL Draft and early 2007, Vick was allegedly involved in several incidents or events:
* In 2007, conflicting statements were made by his estranged parents about possible dogfighting activities in 2001. Michael Boddie, his father, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that around 2001, Michael Vick was staging dogfights in the garage of the family’s home in Newport News and kept fighting dogs in the family’s backyard, including injured ones which the father nursed back to health. Boddie said his son had been urged to not engage in the activity, but continued. He stated: “This is Mike’s thing. And he knows it.”[29] Within days, Michael Vick’s mother, Brenda Vick Boddie, told the Newport News Daily Press “There was no dogfighting [at our home]. There were no cages.”[30]
* In early 2004, two men were arrested in Virginia for distributing marijuana. The truck they were driving was registered to Michael Vick. Falcons coach Dan Reeves recalled that he lectured Vick at that time on the importance of reputation, on choosing the right friends, and on staying out of trouble for the good of his team. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted Reeves as having told Vick: “You are an Atlanta Falcon…Whatever you do is going to be a reflection on all of us, not just you.”[31]
* On October 10, 2004, Vick and the other members of his party, including employee Quanis Phillips, were at Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport on their way to board an AirTran flight. While they were passing through a security checkpoint with Vick, a security camera caught Phillips and Todd Harris picking up an expensive-appearing watch (either a Rolex or a fake) which belonged to Alvin Spencer, a security screener.[32] After watching the theft on a video tape, Spencer filed a police report. However, he claimed that Billy “White Shoes” Johnson, known as the Falcons’ “fixer”, interfered with the investigation.[31] Although Vick representatives declined to make him available for an Atlanta police inquiry, six days later Spencer did get the watch back from them, according to the Washington Post.[32]
* In March 2005, Sonya Elliott filed a civil lawsuit against Vick alleging she contracted genital herpes from him in the autumn of 2002, and that he failed to inform her that he had the disease.[33] Elliot further alleged that Vick had visited clinics under the alias “Ron Mexico” to get treatments and thus knew of his condition. On April 24, 2006, Vick’s attorney, Lawrence Woodward, revealed that the lawsuit had been settled out of court under undisclosed terms.[34] Many fans bought custom jerseys from NFL.com with Vick’s number 7 and the name “MEXICO” on the back, as a reference to his lawsuit. The NFL has since banned customizing jerseys with the name Mexico.[35]
* November 26, 2006 – After a Falcons loss to the New Orleans Saints in the Georgia Dome, in apparent reaction to fans booing, Vick made an obscene gesture at fans, holding up two middle fingers. He was fined $10,000 by the NFL and agreed to donate another $10,000 to charity.[36]
* January 17, 2007 – Vick surrendered a water bottle which had a hidden compartment to security personnel at Miami International Airport. “The compartment was hidden by the bottle’s label so that it appeared to be a full bottle of water when held upright,” police said. Test results indicated there were no illegal substances in the water bottle and Vick was cleared of any wrongdoing.[37] Vick announced that the water bottle was a jewelry stash box, and that the substance in question had been jewelry.[38]
* On Tuesday, April 24, 2007, Michael Vick was scheduled to lobby on Capitol Hill, hoping to persuade lawmakers to increase funding for after-school programs. However, Vick missed a connecting flight in Atlanta on Monday to Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia. He later failed to show-up for another seat booked for him later that evening. On Tuesday morning, he did not attend his scheduled appearance at the congressional breakfast where he also was to be honored for his foundation’s work with after-school projects in Georgia and Virginia.[39] Vick’s mother, Brenda Vick Boddie, accepted an award from the Afterschool Alliance on her son’s behalf.
Atlanta Vick fans only liked Vick because he was black and a criminal.
He’s nothing but a neighborhood thug who can OCCASIONALLY throw a football.
I can’t believe how judgmental people are. Are you perfect and never made a mistake? Some of you are perfect I guess, yea right. Give M. Vick a chance to redeem himself. He’s done some positive things so why don’t you take a look at that. There are other professional athelete that have problems too. Get a life and let the man get his life back on track. I will be following him because he is gifted athelete. Can’t wait to see him play again and believe me, he will!
Have I ever made a mistake? Certainly! Have I ever intentionally caused the death of a helpless creature and found enjoyment in their sufferinbg? Absolutely not.
I don’t care if he’s the best player in the world, which he definitely isn’t, I could never watch him without picturing the scarred faces of the few dogs lucky enough to be saved from death at his hands
Anyone who would destroy beautiful animals like pit bulls should be treated with the SAME RESPECT he treated the dogs with! He is a piece of shit! I hope NO ONE will take him!!!!!!!! If they do I will be there protesting!!!!!
The idea that this is a racial thing is absurd. I would oppose the reinstatement of any player who tortured and killed dogs. Stop trying to justify his actions, they are disgusting. And equating smoking pot with what he did is ridiculous. As Gandhi said, you can judge a society by the way in which it treats its animals.
African-Americans who love dogs are deeply offended by those who make it sound like it’s only white people who are appalled at the thought of his being back in the NFL.
As for boycotting their sponsors, I like many others fully intend to let those who advertise know that I will no longer buy their products.
The NFL makes most of its money from TV rights and advertisers so boycotting games in which he plays and those who sponsor them will have an impact, especially in this economy.
Excellently put, Max.Thank you!Yes- People: BOYCOTT the games and sponsors; Nike told me they pulled vick line?) and I wrote to VISA & Reebok- also letter to NY Times & NfL corporate. Even if they “do the right thing” based on $$, and not ethics- well, at least the goal is met. Let’s all keep this in public view, or it’s business as usual: Depraved indifference to suffering usual.
This guy is absolutely disgusting. What he did was not a “MISTAKE” wanda. You sound as “smart” as MV. This guy is not the great talent you think he is. I’d love nothing better than to see him meet the same fate as did his many animals. We’ll even through you in there too wanda.(since your such a fan!!)
What is wrong with you people? Don’t we remember what it means to be American? We want and need a hero and Vick has that chance. He made a mistake and paid his due. What right do we have to make him suffer more? When you pay your debt, you should be forgiven. God Speed Michael Vick, you will find comfort knowing that most Americans want you to succeed. The terrorists who hide behind the veil of animal rights are the same ones who the old saying about glass houses…how many of you have done something that you needed forgiveness for and you redeemed yourself because you had that chance. He deserves a chance. If he does it again, then protest him. Give him a chance or you are simply un-American.
Truly, this is a no brainer. Animals are a very much owners of this planet just as much as we humans who live on it; are we human being animals. Us humans are blessed that we have a conscience which leads to memories and SHOULD HAVE the respect to protect all “innocent” animals who are only in reactive states of consciousness. They (the dogs and other wildlife) should be taken care of by our more powerful brains that give us the gift of conscienceness and should make us more humble and respectful of other animals who do not have the “power” of forethought and remembrance as MOST human beings. I say MOST, as this brings me to Mike Vick (I hate writing his name). He does not appear to be a human being who has any regard for life. Maybe he considers other animals “weak” and thus more easy to take advantage of. That, my friend, is a cowardly, disrespectful and repugnant human being (in other words, one of the bad seeds no one wants). However, apparently the eagles want him; and appropriately they should be included in the same category as vick, disrespectful of animal and human life. They support a repugnant and cowardly human being in hopes to make money for the Phil Eagles. I say they should hang their heads in shame for being in cahoots with this ignorant and this life of disrespect fo animals and people who inhabit this planet (except for himself!)
Are you a frickin loon?
I don’t see you “god blessing his dogs”. I’M UNAMERICAN!!!!!!!
All of you- if michael sick’s behaviors(they were deliberate, repeated, only stopped when caught) don’t make you at least nauseated, hopefully furious, then you need to wonder why.Meanwhile, some of us here in New York City are contacting CBS TV to chastise them for the soft interview they’re about to air(in a few days?)w sick, also I’m writing to “the most widely read Phila. newspaper” http://www.philly.com ,a letter to the editor saying I have faith that Phila communities including the fans, will register their feelings about personal conduct unacceptable in “role models”…
http://www.philly.com/
All good ideas Sherrie, the more ideas we can gather and share here the better!
But the problem is that most people in Philly are happy and most Americans want him to succeed. Vick can do more in one-day with his money for the Humane Society than you have ever done. Protesting some one who has paid his debt-you should be ashamed. Thank god most Americans (90%) want him to succeed-that gives me faith in America. Idiots that think it is appropriate to protest we don’t want at football games anyway. You guys are the same people who blow up abortion clinics.
John, you forget that Vick gets his money from the fans. He used fan money to buy and kill dogs. He used fan money to cheat investors and banks out of more money. Now he is getting more fan money for a second chance? I don’t think so.
If Michael Vick donates all $6.8 million to the humane society, I might change my perspective. If Michael Vick pays back all of his debt, I might change my perspective. If Michael Vick provides a million dollars to a charity in the memory of Bud Melton murdered a few days after the raid on Vick’s compound, I might change my perspective.
But even then, he’s using FAN money. Its not his own money, its money from the fans. Fans did not have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars so that Michael Vick could kill dogs for fun. Fans shouldn’t have to bail out a fool who was parted from his money for killing dogs and throwing his career away.
On a separate note, show me a poll that indicates that Americans want Michael Vick to succeed. Besides there is a big difference between succeeding at reform and being given back everything you threw away. If I won the lottery and spent all the money on cocaine, and the feds raided my home, I’d lose all my money, and my home, I’d go to jail, but when I got out, no one would demand that I should win the lottery again.
The rationale that says that Michael Vick should be given a second chance to win the lottery is ridiculous.
Sorry John, don’t speak for me. This guy is such a sorry excuse for a human being. He’s already planning how to “not get caught” the next time. With his track record he’s too stupid to not screw up somehow someway again. And he will. And I will be there with a big smile on my face when he does! His days are so numbered. What an idiot.
Where is the sympathy for the animals that suffered at his hands. And 90%? Really?????????? What world do you live in? This guy is a scumbag! It’s very plain.
Here’s hoping that the Eagles lose the next sixteen games. I will not watch an Eagles games even when they play my favorite team. If Vick gets endorsements I will boycott those products.
What a joke Goodell has made of the NFL
The Eagles weren’t even really desperate for a quarterback, they really made a bad decision, and I agree Goodell has mad the NFL into a joke.
My husband and I will be doing the samething Charlie.
People: Lookie what I found! :

The number of horrific acts against dogs at the hands of Vick describe a sick and evil brain that ENJOYS what it does. There were no accidents here or mistakes, bad judgements or acts of desperation. This was just pure evil. THAT is the difference between letting the thug just serve his time and get on with his life and refusing to welcome him back and pay his salary. It was not up to me to determine his punishment in the courts. It is, however , up to me as to whether I wish to reward this vial person with my hard earned money or the NFL or their sponsors, for that matter. I WILL NOT and CAN NOT. Saddly, there are many decent players who whould have loved the opportunity Vick squandered. They don’t have the chance to be someone who could actually bring some GOOD WILL back to the NFL. It is ironic that just today, we received our SEAHAWKS season tickets packet. Instead of being in our seats like we are every year, we have committed to be outside protesting the NFL and the sponsors. That is so sad that they have turned their backs on the fans after Goodell promised to “clean up the NFL”. The loss of THEIR money is the only weapon we have to make the point. As with so many other things, if we can participate and make the effort, we can make a difference here. Please help and don’t let this fade away. This was SICK and rewarding it needs to stop. Vick is not REHABILITATED…HE’S JUST 20 MILLION IN DEBT.
Great Job, Sherri…..I will use this right now!!!
The NFL decision to reinstate Michael Vick is disturbing. My family and everyone we know will boycott anything related to him. Perhaps the Eagles would like to show some video of his cruel and evil murderous personal interests and activities at half time.Vick like so many others deny personal responsibility for their actions. The PR spin machine for the Eagles try to play the victim card when the dogs he tortured and killed are truly the victims.I am disgusted and appalled.
Boycott the NATIONAL FELONS LEAGUE and its coroporate sponsors!
I really hope none of your kids ever do anything wrong. Would you protest your kids getting a job? I think not. The guy made a mistake, a big one, now lets move on. You people don’t realize how much money this is going to create in the eagles orginization. The eagles are one of the most charitable out there. I am sure they are gonna make sure they donate to Peta and all the other animal rights orginazations. It is also making news so that is more time for peta to be in the spotlight. It is a win win.
Michael Vick is not crazy…just smart like a fox. Yes he is sorry but only that he got caught. Could he be a sociopath? Goodbye NFL.
hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, can you all feel the ulcer developing inside your brains, how do you all sleep at night or do you sleep at all, the man has done his time for his crime so why must he continue to be insulted and imprisoned by this onslaught of frothing hatred, my God I thought O.J. had it bad but this is truly getting rediculous. Hatred is a sin whether you all want to admit it or not, it does more damage to you than it does to the one it’s directed towards, the Bible declares “rightousness exaults a nation but sin is a reproach to any people”.
Please don’t misuse the Bible to try to justify the barbaric behavior of Michael Vick. God does not forgive all sinners, only those who truly repent, so we’ll have to wait for Judgement Day to see if He buys Mr. Vick’s show of remorse..
Proverbs 8:13: “To fear the Lord is to hate evil, pride and arrogance and the evil way.”
I sleep very well at night knowing I am doing everything I can to fight animal abuse on a number of fronts including pushing for far stiffer penalties against those who torture God’s innocent creatures for sport.
P.S. Your comment “I thought O.J. had it bad” say exactly where you are coming from
tommy hall, I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt and interpret your words to be directed at Michael Vick and his demonstrations and actions of hatred against his friends, family, business partners, team mates, fans, and dogs.
I have no idea how he sleeps at night either with all of that hatred boiling over.
