Fans Start Saying their Goodbyes to the NFL as Michael Vick Reinstatement Boycott Begins
The NFL presented the final straw today as it reinstated Michael Vick. Throughout the Michael Vick controversy, the league did absolutely nothing to prevent similar actions by its players. A temporary suspension while he served time in prison was the NFL’s only actions against Michael Vick despite the fact that Vick laid waste to the Atlanta Falcons budget, many NFL sponsors, and the respect of fans around the country. But today, the NFL commissioner acted in a way that can not be tolerated by NFL fans when he chose to reinstate Michael Vick.
Roger Goodell is basically saying that it is OK to kill dogs, it is ok to run illegal gambling rings, even when people in those rings are murdered, it is OK to lie to the NFL commissioner himself, it is OK for players to lie to their teams, lie to their sponsors and lie to fans of all ages.
Fortunately, fans and sponsors do not have to take marching orders from people as ethically challenged as Roger Goodell and Michael Vick. We can vote with our wallets, and so many of us will now cast our vote and say good riddance to the NFL all together.

Get this sh** out of here already, Hes done his time its over hes playin ball again. You guys all got somethin better to do then write stupid things about one football player… come on. The things i have read on this website are just silly. Get over it! vickrulez
Wrong again. I am American Indian. Quit playing the “poor Michael card”. He is a FELON. He did unspeakable things. He is being rewarded for bad behavior. FELONS DON’T GET REWARDED. THEY PAY PENALTIES…ALL FLAVORS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE FELONS PAY PENALTIES. Let’s just turn this around….it is just a game that stupid people buy expensive tickets to go see some good players and some bad players– pay money to a corporation that makes lots of money …you probably buy season tickets you can’t afford, don’t help any destitute person, do any volunteer work, belong to Big Brothers-Big Sisters, support an orphanage, or do anything that will make a difference in someone’s life…bet you don’t have a pot or the window but you’ve got tickets to see a FELON play ball….boy, do I envy you and your choices….
It makes me sick to my stomach to hear that this lowlife is getting reinstated into the NFL. Absolutely ridiculous. I’m in complete support of the boycott.
Well all you people boycott and waste your time doing it because hes playing and theres not a damn thing any of u people can do about. and low life? im pretty sure he makes way more money than any of us regaurdless of what hes done. Also im pretty sure no people died. “Roger Goodell is basically saying that it is OK to kill dogs, it is ok to run illegal gambling rings, even when people in those rings are murdered”, nice article.
I can’t believe the NFL has gone this low. This lowlife is getting a second chance being able to breathe, which is a better choice than he gave to his dogs. I will boycott the NFl and their sponsers.
Jaimie you are incorrect. A man that was a witness in the Michael Vick case was murdered. The man supplied Vick one or more dogs and also fought some of his dogs against Vicks. He was murdered right around the time Vick’s mansion was raided by the feds. The investigation is still ongoing.
Oh and just because Michael Vick makes more money than any given person, doesn’t make him a better person.
Just goes to show that the feds were more interested in the gambling indictments then the dogs he murdered. The NFL should be ashamed of itself!!
Vick should be locked in a cage and tortured. He’s a total piece of S&%T! I’m done with the NFL. Its all about money.
Boycott… you people idiots with little or no life perspective. Leonard Little Killed a woman while driving drunk- No boycott when he takes the field. Stallworth kills, no boycott. Ray Lewis Kills, not only is their no boycott, but he becomes a celebrated figure of “character” in the NFL. Jamaal Lewis does time for orchestrating a cocaine deal, no boycott. Big Ben Rothlisberger is about to battle rape charges, still going to training camp, no boycott. So let me get this straight; rape, homocide, drug traffic, DUI, sex boat scandals, and whatever other acts and atrocities are committed by Athletes- all okay. Dog fighting, however, and he shouldn’t get a chance to resume his life. Furthermore, the NFL can give second and third chances for all of the crimes listed above, but reinstating Vick AFTER he served his prison time, completely unacceptible and BOYCOTT worthy. Well ya’ll sit around with your thumbs in your asses, I’m gonna enjoy a GREAT NFL season that will be even better because an exciting and supertalented player is returning to the field.
All the ones you listed are really someone to look up to….now aren’t they? Of course we don’t condone any of their behavior. No sane person would. But, that doesn’t excuse another insane person either.
CommonSense you are partially correct. An NFL boycott is long over due.
Jaimie should learn to spell – “regaurdless” – try “regardless.” Michael Vick is a worthless human being. Hopefully the NFL is wise enough to understand that if any team takes him on they will be subjected to endless protests by animal rights supporters, boycott’s of NFL sponsors and a reduction in ticket sales nationwide.
I am sick and tired of you judging a**holes. Leave Vick alone. He killed some F*#king Dogs!!!! Get over it. I killed a roach today oh and when I was little we caught mice in traps that cut their heads off when they went for the cheese. Oh yeaaah and I also had a cheeseburger yesterday and bacon for breakfast. Turkey for thanksgiving, chicken for dinner!!! How can you sit around and say you should boycott? boycott what? why? Don’t you realize that this truly has nothing to do with you. Vick did a crime… he did 2 years in prison… he’s out.. Let him play. Thats how it should go. People want to punish him the rest of his life? Probably because you don’t like a black man being rich and famous in the first place. You probably hated Vick even before he went to prison just because he was successful. Stupid ignorant people! I like dogs and other household pets but seriously it is over. Do you care when we go to WAR and our soldiers kill innocent people? Do you care about their families? Do you care that our soldiers die for a countries personal revenge? Why not boycott the crooked Government? Boycott something that can make a difference in the world. Something that can bring peace to all. Because truth be told as many of you that are against Vick there are 10x more who have his back and will be willing to stand up for him. So don’t play games like yall are bad…. Because you will see the truth.
See now thats pathetic. you miserable old fools are going to sit around and wait for vick to join a team then your just gona bash it, or whom ever is gona bash it? its just so sad to see one website about one person whos just trying to do his job with a little downside to his life. You look at these football players “horrific” records… Come on, this world is full of hate, rape, and killing what these people did were minor.
I honestly could not have said it better Vick supporter, seriously i tried and i spelled things wrong and what not lol.
VickSupporter
Our fan money paid for Vick’s lifestyle and helped fund the dogs he killed. That’s why we are upset, that is why we do not want to see him in the NFL anymore, and since Goodell has let him back in to the NFL that is why the boycott is on RIGHT NOW, not tomorrow not next month not next fall.
Some people may wait for a team to pick him up and then boycott the NFL and or that team, but most of us are boycotting now!
Damage is done, the NFL had its chance, they blew it.
Michael vick is a psycho. Anyone who systematically hangs, shoots, and drowns dogs year after year after year is CRAZY. yes, he should be able to play again but if I were an owner I wouldn’t want him on my team due to his vast psychological problems. He’s a freak..
i would like to suggest a ban on convicted felons playing in the nfl. since emotions run so high on both sides of this argument, i don’t want to get into lengthy tirades about character.
but wouldn’t it be nice if those high salaries were also met with high expectations? there are plenty of opportunities to make a living in our great country, and playing for the nfl should be a privilege and treated as such.
just an idea!
OK Vickheads not only did this clown fight dogs but he brutally tortured them and murdered them, and trust me theres plenty we can do when he gets on a teamIf he gets on a team. I am also sick of hearing you people say its just a dog. Even dogs dont deserve to be put in a half filled swimming pool and electrocuted do ya think. Do any of the dogs he killed get a second chance, nope. So I along with others will choose better things to do like educate the ignorant and protect this breed from the lowlife scum like your beloved Michael Vick. Yeah he did his time but ultimately the time didnt fit the crime. Really a shame little kids will be wearing his jersey and hanging his poster on there walls. Doesnt say much for where our society is headed….
There is never an excuse to animal abuse. Michael Vick is no exception because he can play a sport. He can be rich and green – that makes no difference. Abuse of any kind is not acceptable. Boycott all of the above for those matters – big money only cares about making big money at the expense of fools who watch and pretend not to know or care only for their personal instanteous satisfaction. As far as concerned, when you believe your entitled to play God with any living soul 2 or 4 legged – you are no different than Hitler.
If Michael Vick has any morals left, he’ll give up on football and the NFL. This is no little mistake. Vick had been fighting dogs since he was 16 years old in his fathers basement. He used his first check to buy property and go big time in the Dogfighting world. Once he made it to the big time in football, he wanted the same in dogfighting.
There is no place in professional sports for a person like Vick.
Vick is a lowlife coward. Anyone who supports him is a lowlife coward. If you’re all so tough, use your real names. You sure do like to act and talk tough behind a keyboard…
Losers. Especially Jamie, who can’t seem to come up with original thought.
Good for you.
I do believe that anyone who is in such a high profile position should meet certain standards. Just as we scrutinize candidates for political office, these people are role models as well and effect our society in countless ways and our money supports them. Vick had plenty of money, and he chose to fight dogs for profit. What he did is not minor- it effected 50 dogs lives and family pets. Those dogs (that lived) are now left for someone else to carry the burden. He did donate a certain amount of money, but the time and effort and fighting certain organizations did just to save these dogs from destruction is incredible. Many people who torture and kill animals end up doing the same to humans- it has a lot of precedence. Goodell has released, if I’m not mistaken, a statement to the fact that he knows the impact on the NFL that his reinstatement entails. He knows the amount of negativity that will be drummed up against the team, if any team, hires him. He said that to play is a privilege, not a right. Also, to Vick supporter, none of this is racist and never has been mentioned as such. To state that is just pulling the race card and is racist in itself. Did we not just mourn a famous, rich black man?
Well….I myself am against Michael Vick being allowed back in…but money talks and to each his own. However, time will tell. We just have to wait to see what happens with the fans of whatever team takes him on. I don’t think it will be pretty and I wouldn’t want to be Michael Vick on the playing field.
I am so with you on this one. Its not just Vick, but all the thugs that the NFL chooses to ignore their criminal behavior. Vick is just the icing on the cake. They should be ashamed of themselves for putting winning games and money ahead of a persons character.
At least NASCAR stands firm on the rules. You won’t find this kind of sick person being reinstated and allowed to drive. NASCAR, unlike the NFL respects it’s fans and drivers who play by the rules and don’t live like degenerates in their personal lives.
It makes me sick to my stomach that people actually still like Vick!! What happened to the NFL?? So much for role models for my children. So what if he has talent doesn’t mean he is smart. He is the dumbest person I know. He took something so wonderful (pit bulls) and used them for something so wrong. He should not be allowed to play, that is what most of us want. I know he will play and people will support him and watch football. This is not fair, but hopefully what comes around goes around!! Hopefully one day when he is playing he gets hurt and can never play, never move again. I can’t even begin to say how I feel. All I know is I pray that those dogs are in a better place now- somewhere Vick will never see! As for the dogs that were rescued I hope they get the life they deserve. Dogs were put on earth for companionship-man’s best friend. Vick does not deserve a second chance at anything he messed up no punishment could fix what he did!
Hoping for that career ending, back breaking hit.
Michael Vick is only sorry because he got caught. He would still be torturing dogs if he was never found out about.
Is the NFL so desperate for players that they are willing to take him back? He is a poor role model for any young person. He should never be allowed to play sports again. When those dogs he tortured are brought back to life, then he has paid his debt to society, and to each and every dog he allowed to suffer for no reason other than greed.
He should be reduced to standing on a corner, begging for spare change, and eating what comes out of the end of dog after he eats.
Vick will always be a low life dirt bag. That will never change, no matter what.
This is so sad, but a perfect example of how messed up the world is, especially through the eyes of dog loving caucasians. It has become painfully obvious to me, a dog lover and owner of a pitbull RESCUED from a life of fighting, that you sick people care more about DOGS, than you do people. First of all, THE NFL IS NOT A PRIVILEDGE. JUST BECAUSE YOU CANT PLAY, DOESN’T MAKE IT A PRIVELEDGE! It is a RIGHT earned by years of dedication, 2-a-day practices in 100 degree weather while all your friends are at the pool or smoking weed, hills and bleacher runs until you barf, AND THEN hitting the weights. Thats just training camp! Professional football takes 10 years off the average lifespan. Years given to you, the sucker a$$ fan who is too fat, too lazy, too un-athletic to entertain and inspire millions; not to mention provide a “role model” for loser parents whose kids look up to athletes they don’t know more than the person who puts food on the table and a roof over thier head. Professional athletes, no matter how talented work their whole lives to play ball. It is not some arbitrary priveledge handed down from the almighty, just because you make millions of dollars! T.I. the rapper is a 7 time violent felon, with multiple drug and weapons charges, got caught here in atlanta with a couple silencers, a pound of weed, a couple hundred X pills and 4 guns in the car. Went to his house and found all types of CLASS III automatic weapons and more silencers. 1 year sentence in the minimum security camp. Where is the outrage? Where was the outrage when Bill Romanowski (nfl linebacker), put his wife in the ICU 2 TIMES? Where was the outrage when the other nfl/nba/mlb/nhl players get caught for drug trafficking, murder, manslaughter, domestic violence, stalking, child abuse, rape, making terroristic threats? When Blues Traveler got caught with 15 guns in the car? You people need to get your head out of your asses. I watch football for entertainment….I love football. But what a football player eats, doesn’t make me sh*t and vice versa. Do I really care what happens in your personal life when you are scoring a touchdown? About as much as I care about the guy checking out my groceries. As long as you paid your debt, and do your job, I care not. Also, there are a lot more of us than there are of you, he is better than 14 starting quarterbacks in the league right now and more importantly, money and talent talk, losers sit on blogs and try to hate on someone they dont know just for a bleeding heart reaction. Vick will play and the boycott will fail. There isn’t a thing you can do about it, especially because you bleeding heart PETA psychos DONT BUY NFL SEASON TICKETS! Personally I think Vick is a giant dumbass for jeopardizing his money for some dogs. BUT….I WILL BE BUYING HIS NEW JERSEY, WHATEVER THE TEAM, JUST TO SPIT IN THE EYES OF YOU DICKHEADS….and I’ve never had a Vick jersey in life!
Thanks for that comment Benjamin, you proved yourself to be both ignorant and racist at the same time, but if you really think the boycott will fail what are you so afraid of anyhow?
Playing in the NFL is not a right btw. Your argument following this statement could have probably proven the opposite and also goes to show just how screwed up Michael Vick must have been to throw away all his hard work in order to torture and kill dogs while trying to spend money to feel cool, fronting in front of drug dealers and other dog fighting freaks.
Killing and torturing dogs was a crime and pretty bad, supporting criminal enterprises that helped young kids looking up to Vick fall victim to coke dealers, that was pretty bad too, being involved with a ring of villains, one of which was murdered right around the time Vick’s home was raided and after that same person gave evidence to the Feds is pretty bad, but even if you want to swallow all the American Apple Pie in the world and say that Michael Vick earned his $250 million, well guess what?
He also earned the option to lose it all doing something despicable and pretty damn stupid.
He deserves a second chance yes, not a second free ride. Getting that second chance is definitely not a right.
The NFL is a corporate enterprise established to make a profit and it is true that it is pretty screwed up and by some of the same exact things you mention, getting more and more screwed up all the time.
The thing is that we have to start doing something to fix it somewhere. I’m all for getting those other scumbags out of the NFL too, but this is a site about Michael Vick not those scumbags. If you want them gone, go set up a site to get rid of those scumbags too, drop us a link, we’ll be glad to support your efforts.
If we get all the scumbags out of the NFL, regardless of what race they are, then maybe the NFL will actually be a place where some real heroes might start to shine, but you put any dozen guys on the same side of the field as Michael Vick on any given day of the week and they are all going to look like loser scumbags. Vick will bring down the entire team no matter how well he plays in the future.
That’s what happens when you build your career on your ‘reputation’ and then you burn your own reputation like Michael Vick did. You just can’t step out of prison one day and say, I’m a good guy now, can I please jump to the front of the line and accept my just rewards?
Nope, real life doesn’t work like that.
The boycott will only work as well as society passes on its reflection on the NFL. If things continue to go down hill and degrade, odds are Vick will play again and make too much money and probably do it all over again, if not something worse.
He only ripped off his business partners for about $16 million btw. Real trustworthy guy.
The difference between Bernie Madoff and Michael Vick is that Bernie Madoff didn’t kill dogs(that we know of).
But even if Madoff lives long enough to get out of prison, I’ll be the first to call for a boycott against investing with him.
Why?
Am I an anti semite for not wanting to give Bernie Madoff his rightfully earned second chance in life?
No, I’m not an anti semite and unlike your statement above, I’m not a racist against any other race or color either (too damned mixed myself for that to really even be applicable).
I’d boycott Madoff because I’m not a damned fool!
Not boycotting Michael Vick and the NFL that would sponsor him again (to make a buck if there is one to be made) is a damned fool thing to do.
I doubt you will be convinced, but I suspect your ignorance will go a long long way towards convincing others. Thanks for that!
Yes, he served his time. Yes, he should go back to work, & rebuild his life. NO, it should not be with the NFL. If these big organizations have half a brain, they will stay far away from Michael Vick.
Benjamin- you’re a big nobody!! Go waste your money on a vick jersey but I have a feeing no team is gonna want him! Oh and you never had a favorite football player you looked up to as a child?? Don’t be hating us because we are passionate about this. There is already a list of teams who don’t want him- sorry he’s DONE!!
Those of you who insist that Vick has done his time, and therefore should be reinstated, are laboring under the delusion that somehow the NFL is part of the justice system. It is not. No employer is under obligation to hire felons, or to reinstate felons to their former position after they serve their time.
Vick has his second chance in the form of freedom from incarceration. That’s what serving his time earned him. I think the NFL needs a zero tolerance policy toward felonies. The league would be better off, and the players would probably take greater care to avoid complicating their lives to the extent that it involves the police and the courts.
Michael Vick and the other felon-athletes should certainly be allowed to earn a living, but in the grocery store, the car dealership, or the field house. Not in the NFL, not in front of our children on the Sunday afternoon stage. Your job is a privilege. If your employer doesn’t want to take you back when you get out of prison, he doesn’t have to. AS long as the NFL wants guys like Vick, they won’t get any of my money.
Great web site. I am glad to see people who believe that it is important to have values and character in public figures. Vick should be no exception. What he did was unconscionable. Reinstating him shows that Goodell has no moral compass or is passing the responsibility onto the teams to take that stand. Either way it is a demonstration of weak character/leadership in himself. Luckily, we can put our purchasing power to vote by not buying sponsor products for those who support Vick. By the way, Goodell also leads https://www.jointheteam.com. Check out their sponsors/partners.
I’m glad to see a site dedicated to boycott the NFL for reinstating Vick. Hopefully the NFL teams will vote with there wallets and not hire him. I read the Ravens may be interested in his services. Baltimore has lost one great NFL franchise due to a lack of fan support. Any team that hires Vick is putting their franchise in jeopardy.
I am not a dog lover. I really do not like dogs. That being said, I am firmly against Vick ever playing for the NFL again. Like it or not, he is a role model for children. Children want to be NFL players. They want to be sports stars. The sport is built on this. Kids were buying Vick jerseys before he got caught. The NFL owes it to these kids, some of whom will be playing for the NFL in just a few years, to let them know that Vicks behavior is completely unacceptable.
I am wondering if anyone remembers basketball a number of years ago. Thier fan base practically disappeared. The same thing could very well happen to the team that signs Vick and also to the NFL.
It will not be hard to boycott the NFL and sponsors this fall. All of us have to save our hard earned money and we need to decide how we are going to spend it. Most of us will not have money to throw away. Take the money you would have spent on the NFL and use it for something better. Yes, boycott the NFL and the sponsors who choose to advertise in any game that Vick plays in. Let them know that WE, the fans, the ultimate maney source for the game, do not accept behavior like Vick did.
And once we are rid of Vick, then we need to look at getting rid of the rest of the thugs in the NFL.
Lots of good points. However, if he still has talent he’s gonna play. What he did was not OK, but he is not the only one that has committed a crime. If you don’t think he should be in the NFL because kids will look up to him there is nothing you can do. It is up to parents to teach their kids between right and wrong. Kids aren’t dumb, they can understand these things. They can understand that someone can be talented yet not be a good person. Kids will always want to be in the NFL, so they need to be taught to be better than these guys they see. And that is a lesson that can only come from their parents.
Whatever, that logic doesn’t play out in the real world. For another example (we’ve provided many already) Elliot Spitzer is still a very talented guy as well, but you won’t see him prosecuting prostitution cases anymore since he was caught using prostitute services himself.
How can I help with the BOYCOTT
As a computer artist for FOX NFL graphics
I must explain to my kids why Vick strangled
and electrocuted dogs and why they should
not do the same I feel I must quit working for
the NFL and support a new show exposing felons in the league
TMZ type expose of the dark side of football and the criminal
records of the players. Anybody with me?
Your children will learn ethics and morality at your knee. It’s important not to work for a company you think is engaged in unethical behavior. I commend you for considering an alternative. You are certainly a role model for your children. Turn off your TV when the Eagles featuring Vick are playing. Tell your kids why you turned off the TV. Get your kids involved in boycotting the sponsors. This is a way to empower them in the future and let them know they do have a voice.
That’s definitely an interesting idea doyle, but I think we need to find a way to channel efforts and come up with a well rounded strategy.
I’m a former corporate whistleblower myself. It is not easy to against the corporation that provides your livelihood. At the same time, you have to be able to live with yourself and your own actions. I’m working on some ways that we can have more dialogue on our options.
Idea. I for one am done with the NFL. Is there a possibility for people who feel the same way, can send their NFL paraphernalia to one location and then send it via dump truck to the steps of NFL headquarters? With full press coverage of the event?
