Fans Against Violent Felons in the NFL

This week Roger Goodell the current chairman of the NFL, has confirmed what too many fans suspected for a long time.

The NFL has completely lost its way and will take fan money at any cost, even if that includes allowing violent felons to play in the NFL where they are given fame, fortune, the spotlight and much more to set a bad example for society and NFL fans of all ages from susceptible school kids up to susceptible adults (that should probably know better but when they see their heroes acting badly . . . )

We have updated our mission here at the Campaign to Sack Michael Vick.  We still want to see Michael Vick remain off the field permanently.

Given the gross inadequacy of leadership displayed by Roger Goodell, we want to see Roger Goodell removed from his position and we call for the NFL to permanently ban all violent felons from playing the sport indefinitely.

The NFL with its vast wealth, marketing power and influence around the world is no place for violent felons that would kill or torture other living creatures, humans or dogs.  To this end we have updated our mission to reflect this change…

Over the last couple years we started this site to specifically address the injustice, abuse and grossly inhumane actions of Michael Vick, plus his complete disregard for fans, children, sponsors, teams, the courts and more.  Many people have stated that what Vick did is not as bad as what other NFL players have done.  We do not disagree, but we are focused on this site primarily on the Michael Vick Case.  That said, Roger Goodell’s decision to allow Michael Vick back into the NFL in 2009 changes things.  For us to achieve our mission to prevent Michael Vick from returning to the NFL we now have to set our sites on what is clearly endemic of the NFL culture starting at the top.

We therefore call for the removal of Roger Goodell as Chairman of the NFL, and we call for a new NFL policy that prevents violent convicted felons from playing within the NFL where they could be viewed as role models of children.

This would include preventing Michael Vick from playing with the NFL and it would also call for the removal of NFL football players that have killed other human beings, beaten their spouses or family members and many other circumstances.  The NFL is a major corporate enterprise with a significant amount of influence over fans old and young.  Keeping convicted felons in the spot light does not serve society well, and we fans will boycott the NFL until they stop promoting violent felons in to the limelight with riches and fame.

I hope Vick goes to the Raiders!
    RAIDERS SUPERBOWL CHAMPS 2010!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pat:

The word “humane” comes from human..meaning we have respect for life and the quality of it. When a human commits an inhumane act on innocent animals then he should not be considered human. Animals have more respect for life than Michael Vick..they only take a life when they need to survive…not for the money or to be entertained. Michael Vick should be Black Listed from all Professional Sports, and spend the rest of his life trying to make up for the harm he has done.

  • K-9:

Vick and Goodell both have to go. If Vick plays someone should put a bounty on him with the amount paid being according to the quality and severity of the injury.

    For example:

Broken finger – $100.00 each finger
Broken wrist – $200.00 each wrist
Broken arm – $500.00 each arm
Broken leg – $500.00 each leg
    Broken knee/smached kneecap – $1000.00
    Broken neck – $1500.00
    Broken spine – $2000.00
    Paralysis – $10,000

Vick is a piece of garbage and should be deported.

    • Jonny Justice:

If Vick gets to play in the NFL, that bounty could go out to defensive players.
I think we could get a million dog lovers to donate $1–don’t you?

    • This site and the people behind this site neither want to see Michael Vick play in the NFL nor do we want to see him harmed on the field nor off the field in any way.

We recognize the humorous intentions of these comments, but do not condone violence.

    • Steven:

Dude get a life. Violent ex-felon? Wow chief you have no clue of the outside world huh? He was involved in a dog fighting ring. That kind of stuff happens everyday. Whats the difference in going out and killing a 7 pt buck and putting his head on the wall of your living room? He served 2 YEARS in prison while on the contrary, Donte Stallworth served 24 DAYS in jail for manslaughter in wich he KILLED a man because he was driving drunk. What kind of world is this? PETA get a life and let the man live his. Protesting outside of the stadium only shows how ignorant you really are.

  • Rebecca:

    K-9, I like that plan

  • Bo Miller:

No one with a felony violent crime conviction should be allowed to play.

Make them pay…don’t let them play!

  • Erika:

society as a whole disappoints me with these ignorant comments about Vick…
He is a man that did wrong and accepted accountability for it. Let it go!!! How many of the people that are speaking ill of him have done something wrong. Humane, how humane is it to treat women & children like garbage. You hear of women being raped & beaten and our humane society-blames the woman. You watch children go hungry, without a home and the only concern the human race has is for dogs…
I pray that God forgives humanity according to the forgiveness they show Michael Vick….

    • ron:

      I agree with you

      • sherrie:

        Ron:
Sorry- I see my last post looks like a reply to you. It is intended as a reply to Erika, re: her comments on violence vs. humans.
People, I gotta take a break, this is getting complicated, gotta refresh with a snack of blueberry/parsley/etc smoothie.

    • sherrie:

OMG, Who ARE you?? I don’t mean to be insulting, just let’s have a reality check:Do you realize that you ASSUME that some or all of us have NOT fought against domestic violence vs. children etc? And I(and anyone I would spend time with)would NEVER be so cro magnon as to blame a woman or any victim for what someone does to them!!!Realize this, too:You’re ON a “sack vick” site– HELLO!? THAT’s what you’ll see here!

    • Jonny Justice:

Let God forgive and let us not forget. Vick’s ’second chance’ should be somewhere out of the eyes of the public and impressionable children.

  • sherrie:

Let’s go for it; go straight up to the source. These otherwise unevolved aren’t self-directing, they need clear rules handed to them, unconditionally!(Yes, let’s call for Goodell to go, set the example…)

  • Rebecca:

Listen guys, Vick fans are crazy and STUPID too. i’m sorry, but I have argued with them since 9:00 this morning while putting information(petitions, boycott addresses, etc.)on the Michael Vick forum Topix. Everything under the sun has been said to me. EVERYTHING. I never knew there were this many un-cool people in our society.

  • Nate:

We live in a world of hard hearted people. The man broke the law, serve time, paid his debt to society and let’s not talk about the millions of dollars he lost and now wants to get back to playing the game he loves; and all these pundits don’t want to see him come back. What a shame. PETA and all these jokers who want to protest are wasting their time. They should put that energy towards domestic violence, helping the homeless or towards helping hungry children rather than picketing a stadium over some damn dogs.

    • Nick
The point is that anyone who could stand there and watch and participate in what he did lacks a sense of humanity and therefore cannot be trusted to not take it to the next level.

  • Vicki:

Vick has accepted the served the punishment that society deemed appropriate for his acts. I agree that he should be allowed to live his life in peace. HOWEVER, playing in the NFL is a privilage, and he has lost his right to that privilage. He can work hard like the rest of us to support himself, but he DOES NOT deserve millions and the status of celebrity and role model.

  • scenestealer:

Nate nate nate nate nate. How you assume so much. Since you know it all, including how to spell “damn”, just go away. You’re no more worth more typing energy than Vick is.

  • scenestealer:

Rebecca, thank you for your efforts. There’re really only 2 categories of people someone said, decent and indecent. Although I suppose person of integrity vs. coward might also apply. I applaude the efforts on this site as well–to abolish the acceptance of felons into the NFL. It would make the game much more role-model positive.

So many false gods, so many illusions, so many unreal images are these celebs. How men hate to let them go.

  • SUSAN PERINE:

First, Sherrie?? If you are there AND if you are the one who found the Eagles Corporate Sponsors list, THANK YOU!! I was awake all night writing and spent all day calling these people to let them know I would boycott their products and services should they remain supporters of the Eagles/Vick. The ironic thing is that I WAS a customer of some of them and could provide account numbers for credability. I do mean what I told them as I realize the only tool we have is where we choose to spend our money….or not.

For everyone else who is having trouble understanding the cause, I can speak only for myself. My reason for this effort is not to downplay any of the other horrific crimes committed by other messed up players. I was happy to hear Goodell vow to “clean up the NFL of criminal behavior and come down hard on offenders”. This has been an empty promise. I am horrified every time I see these guys do these horrible things and even more when they are treated differently because of their celebrity status. One differnce with Vick, however, is his crimes were not the results of mistakes or moments of desperation or bad judgement or passion. They were sick, twisted, cruel, torturous, dark, nightmarish acts that are indescribable and almost out of our grasp of possibility…..that a brain can function like that for the sake of KICKS. It is baffeling that this has even happened involving a main stream wealthy athlete with so many other options for entertainment. He put a great deal of effort into this activity. WHY?? How can a brain be that screwed up? How much longer would he have “enjoyed” this “sport” had he not been caught? Would he ever have had a moment of feeling bad about the things he did and witnessed? They are too cruel to imagine and so senseless, it is just “out there” and pointless other than to be just screwed up and sick. THAT is why the response from me is so intense. I can’t believe it all even happened at all because there was no reason other than kicks. I spend so much time asking myself why I am so sick over it and driven to ensure he is not able to walk back into his millions with a brain like that. I WILL NOT and CAN NOT contribute to it. Also, there are SO MANY talented and decent players who would love to have had the opportunity Vick squandered. These guys might bring something good to their communities and to the sport, making it fun to be a fan again. THAT is where I had hoped the NFL was going when Goodell came in. I also hoped that we as fans and citizens would actually have a limit to what we were willing to support and not. This is the heart of the issue for me. Those dogs were tortured and terrified for some sick guys idea of fun. I am having nightmares about that level of evil.
I hope we will find enough people to make an impact on the issue as a WHOLE and force the NFL to clean up the WHOLE mess for all of our reasons. Otherwise, we are a part of it because we either allowed it or ignored it. Please, speak out and help to fix it, even if the details of our opinions differ a bit.

SORRY for the length of this….I am really a quiet person. Thanks for the chance to speak out.

  • scenestealer:

“Also, there are SO MANY talented and decent players who would love to have had the opportunity Vick squandered. These guys might bring something good to their communities and to the sport, making it fun to be a fan again.”

Susan, bravo. Very well said. I agree with you completely and on this point you’re brilliant. No one has brought it up on the several sites I’ve visited (because some are too busy excusing Vick, that’s why). As for this “level of evil” — I feel the same way. It gives me nightmares sometimes. You know, there used to be this real cheesy song (least I thought so as a kid) and the words were “Bless the beasts and the children. In this world they have no voice, they have no choice”. As the humane society says, we are their voice. Keep speaking out people and ignore those too addicted to celebrities to see them as they really are–or to even consider it.

    Again, well said!

  • Buckeye Jon:

Get over yourselves…You people arent up in arms when HUMANS get killed but let a friggin mutt get electrocuted or drowned then its “oh noez not the puppiez”

  • Big Al:

Most of these “people” are redneck white people who don’t want to see any black man make in life which includes Obama. Give Vick the a 2nd chance just you do with of your druggie kids in which you give much more than a 2nd chance. You need stop Hate-ing people.

  • Michael Vick is a convicted felon. Other convicted felons loose their right to vote, their right to hold public office, can not work in homes for children or the elderly and the list goes on.

Why would be rules in our laws change because he is a football player? He is a felon by his own doing. This was a conscious choice that HE MADE of his own free will. All the consequences apply, by law, and he should be made to adhere to the law. End of story.

    Stop rewarding deplorable behavior, PERIOD.

  • scenestealer:

Those who come here to chastise others about Vick then sit back and call names: Focus. Your assumptions are illogical. You can’t assume people are all rednecks here or that they can’t stand the prez or that they hate all this or all that and don’t care about murder, etc. That’s just plain silly. You’re drawing conclusions and applying them to the whole from the limiting portion of one’s experiences.

By the way, Vick is a sadist. If he isn’t getting psychiatric help, they should never have even considered hiring him back. I agree with Susie about felons as well.

  • Earl bigsby:

I wish you losers who protest Mike Vick get a life. Hunting defenseless deer, quail, ducks and other unfortunate creatures is okay? You protesters eat meat(animals)have leather seats in your BMW and have the nerve to protest a man who was severely punished(18 months in Federal Prison), he lost more money as a result of his crimes than anyone($40-$50 million).
Do you know how many dogs are killed legally everyday? Why discriminate against certain animals over others? I know what it is its that the EVIL BLACKMAN did it right? What about People For the Ethical Treatment of PEOPLE!!! Isn’t forgiveness a good Christian edict? Not when it applies to EVIL BLACK MEN? How many of you Dog lover/Certain People haters cheat on your spouses or keeping dirty little secrets? I hope some rabid pit bulls takes a bite out of all of you…

    • How is pulling our financial support from an ex convict discriminatory? How is choosing not to cheer and root for a person who killed animals discriminatory? How is working to prevent any violent ex felon of any race in the NFL discrimination?

Michael Vick may be evil, but its got nothing to do with the color of his skin. You may see Michael Vick as an evil blackman. I see Michael Vick as just another man that committed evil.

  • Hi, Earl.

I’m thinking you need to find a hobby.

    :)

    • Earl bigsby:

I have a hobby.. its training my pits and rotts to bite dumb ass people who trespass. I cant stand hypocrites. You (Vick protesters) didnt et this mad when the Eagles executives wife killed one of their own fans and fled the scene???? She eventually was caught and served about 30 days? Screw those damn dogs!!

      • Lisa H:

        Hi, Earl.

Sounds like a fun-filled hobby! If you think I’m bothered by your sophmoric response, you’re wrong. Rather I’m saddened by the abject stupidity behind your comment and all of the unfortunate byproducts you endure.

*Sniff, sniff. Lisa wipes tear from eye for Earl bigsby.*

  • CLC:

All the sanctimonious talk about second chances – blah, blah, blah.
This was a business decision plain and simple.
At any and all cost to win.
    No more than that.

The Green Buzzards s**k so does the NFL.
Lurie used the unfortunate words “use Michael Vick as a weapon” – what an idiot – don’t they have handlers for all these big shots?

THAT IS THE PICTURE M.SICK SHOULD HAVE TO STARE AT IN A PRISON CELL. THAT’S THE PICTURE I FIRST SAW THAT MADE ME AWARE OF WHAT REALLY HAPPENS WITH HUMAN PROMOTED DOGFIGHTING. SO SICK, SO INFURIATING THAT SOME SICKIE GETS AWAY WITH THIS. AT LEAST HE’S FEELING SOME FEAR. MY GUESS IS, IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE FOR HIM- MONEY OR NO.
      NIGHTMARES, MICHAEL?

  • Ilene:

Goodell needs to be replaced. His latest travesty, allowing a violent ex-felon back into the folds of the NFL show that he is putting money before integrity, as usual. Of course, he is doing what is expedient for the sake of money, but there are loads of people who disgree with his decision about allowing Vick back into the NFL and since his judgement is deemed so very aggregious, let us hope that a replacement can be found sooner than later, and that a wise and prudent person who possesses the wisdom and good judgement that this position requires, can be found before more terrible judgement calls are made on behalf of the NFL.

  • eli:

o.k. lets forgive Vick. forgiveness is always a good thing. and lets give him a second chance to prove he really does see the evil. everyone deserves a second chance and sometimes a third. i’m all for it. but do not give him back his football

This site is a joke! Calling for the commish? LMAO!!!! You all could not be serious?!

  • eli:

a mistake? thinking the NFL has double overtime is a mistake. LMAO

  • vick#1fan:

since everyone is so concerned about felons in the NFL you should do your research and lobby for all of them instead of singling one person out. I bet all you animal lovers are the same ones on the net having sex with them….what a disgrace

    • Good suggestion, that’s what we started doing when we changed are mission a few weeks ago. Glad you are on board with us and we welcome you to our group boycotting Michael Vick and other felons in the NFL. :)

CLC has got it right. Money matters above decency & justice to the Lurids & the Eagles.

  • mick kaufman:

If you have ever seen a dogfight until death you would know that anyone involved, condoning it supporting it is a sadist. Vick would say anything to get his millions back, cry remorse and that he has seen a new light. What a crock. His biggest problem was that he was caught, if he was never caught and brought to prison he would still be doing this act of terror. Get real and understand that his remorse is self serving and a sham.

  • I am a retired Phila Police Sergeant and live in Phila, Pa. I am proud to state that two Phila Poice officers saved a dog who had been hit by a car. The driver did stop and a vet saved this dog and operated on it at a fraction of the cost. The dog will be placed up for adoption. My heart aches over the plight of the bulldogs and when an active officer spent many hours at the SPCA trying to stop these fught. I am making a donation to an animal group in loving memory of the dogs that die in these unconsciencable dogfights.

Thank you.Sherrie(teacher in New york City.)I had mase a small dona. to SPCA, & have been writing/phoning NFL/Eagles sponsors- hope i can post the letter Pepsi sent me today..

Ohhhh Penelope! What a find your post is! It’s heartening and reassuring to read that through those take action officers, a new beginning of compassion and care was set into action for one in need. Great post!

Hi, Sherri! So true – our discontent is getting acknowledged :) I’ve received similar responses.

People: I realize these guys are still sponsors, & not saying they’ll dissociate, but think of this: IF NOTHING ELSE, these people are feeling compelled to answer back, in some detail; We have created enough discomfort level so that I think there can be hope…Here it is:
    Dear Sherrie,

Thank you for contacting Pepsi-Cola Company. We certainly appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

As you may know, Pepsi does not have a relationship with Michael Vick. In fact, we have never worked with this individual. However, we do agree with the NFL that Michael Vick’s illegal activities, for which he was convicted in 2007, were cruel and degrading.
The NFL has said that Mr. Vick has been reinstated to the league on a conditional basis and will be considered for full reinstatement by mid-October based on the progress he makes in his transition plan. As sponsors of the NFL, we have the utmost confidence that the senior leadership at the NFL will continue to appropriately address this issue.
Once again, many thanks for contacting us and please be assured that your comments have been shared with the appropriate individuals within the Company.
    Dennis Dowd, Conumer Realtions Representative

    • GET REAL!!!:

You do realize that every company has a generalized letter that they send everyone who makes the Vick complaint? Don’t you? Your letters never go to the CEO’s COO’s etc. Please, I know I am not the only one in corporate america who sees this every day!?

Your email is filtered directly to a paralegal, or worse yet their assistant. I should know, I send these kind of complaints to my assistant on a daily basis. No different from filtering spam.

  • Kim:

For me, the letters were just a courtesy to let the sponsors know how I feel. As consumers, any real power we have will be in the money we stop spending – not in the letters themselves.

Some sponsors like Miller and Budweiser may even chuckle at the letters because they probably believe that we’re too lazy or too stupid to check and see how many products they actually own – and the list is shocking. Even some beers not listed on their site appear to be connected to Anheuser Busch, such as Labatt and St. Pauli Girl.

As far as I can tell about the only well-known beers they don’t own/partner with are Samuel Adams (largest American Owned Brewery in the country according to Wikipedia) Corona, Heineken or Moosehead so those are my family’s new choices.

The media is so quick to talk about Vick and his so-called 2nd chance, but they’re not touching the topic of our boycott (of course if they did they would risk losing their own sponsorships).

I think the NFL, Eagles and sponsors are all hoping that if they ignore us long enough we will give up but I hope they will be disappointed.

I for one will not give up until the sponsors pull out, Vick is let go, or he isn’t brought back next season. Yes it will be hard, but doing the right thing isn’t always easy.

  • tom quinn:

WOW.You people are just angry that sombody makes more money than you.
write your senate asking that any one convicted of a crime can never work again, unless they have a worse job than you do.
Hello. there is no such law.
    Nor should there be.
You dont like Vick dont go to his games.
You people are sick with your lifetime punishments.
If any of you had any brains you would understand how life time punishments make you less safe.

    • There are millions of people in the world that make more money than I do and probably more money than most of the people that have posted on this website.

We are not angry about that at all. Most of the people that make more money than we do, do not spend their money developing criminal organizations promoting the systematic torture and killing of animals just to watch them die.

We are not pushing for a law to prevent anyone convicted of a crime from playing in the NFL, just people convicted of violent crimes as adults.

We are also not looking to punish Michael Vick for his entire lifetime, he’s done a good enough job of that all by himself. We would be very happy to see him go and do almost any other job. Very happy to see him earn a living doing that, even earning a very rich living.

Regarding our safety, we feel that removing Michael Vick and other violent ex convicts from positions of heroic worship and influence will on the whole make us safer both against their potential for future harm, but also against the people they might influence to think that violent crimes are acceptable or that violent criminals will be rewarded financially.

We do not advocate a lifetime of punishment for anyone and that is especially true in the sense that we as fans do not deserve a lifetime of punishment at the hands of people like Michael Vick who will take our fan money and support and engage in dog torture for 6 years or support illegal gambling rings (which led to 1 murder of one of his partners by the way). Michael Vick’s millions bought death and destruction for people as well as dogs, we do not want to support that in any form.
