Eagles Ask For Boycott – Get Boycott Over Michael Vick
According to ESPN, the Philadelphia Eagles today made one of the worst public relations mistakes in the history of sports, signing convicted felon, dog killer, ex-
quarter back Micael Vick, whom they will pay $1.6 million the first year with an option for a second year at $5.2 million for a total of $6.8 million straight out of prison, which is a lot higher than most ex-felons not counting Martha Stewart.
Vick was signed after McNabb backup Kevin Kolb sprained his MCL.
Michael Vick can practice right away but will not be able to play until the week of October 18th at the earliest if the NFL commissioner fully reinstates Michael Vick.
What does Vick’s Signing with the Philadelphia Eagles Mean for You?
Many of us were ready to boycott the NFL when he was partially reinstated, many more promised to boycott the NFL if a team signed him.
Well at this point those days are now past and we can all be united in boycotting the NFL, boycotting Michael Vick and Boycotting the Philadelphia Eagles too. For those of you that do not want to boycott the entire NFL or all teams, you might consider boycotting any game that Michael Vick or the Philadelphia Eagles play in.

Our Scholarship organization is not the sponsoring agency! Please search for the proper agency to convey your sentiments. The Donald A Strauss Scholarship Foundation gives small grants to CA college students to do public service projects. WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES!
Thanks – this has been crazy!
Thank you for the notice, We have found several references to ‘The Strauss Foundation’ on the Eagles website in various sponsors sections. Since the Eagles hired Michael Vick, they have temporarily removed and reinstated several of these pages.
ex. http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/partnership/our_organization.asp
Regardless, it would appear that the reference to The Strauss Foundation either references a different group, or possibly the Eagles have mistakenly listed your charity as a sponsor instead of a partner for their youth program or some other charitable works.
Up until recently the Eagles had a good record of doing many good things, we are troubled by their change in direction, but in the meantime we will remove references to your group until we can identify the proper contact info for the The Strauss Foundation that may be the real sponsor.
It is disgusting that the Eagles gave Vick a $7 million contract only weeks after being released! Verizon should pull its sponsorship immediately and I have organized a boycott of Verizon until they do which anybody can join here – http://www.boycottowl.com/Verizon+Wireless/7
I found this interesting and am rather perplexed at what the Eagles find unacceptable. See below.
by KYW’s Mike DeNardo
Just days after the Philadelphia Eagles announced they were giving Michael Vick “a second chance,” a security employee fired last March says he’s waiting for the team to give him a second chance.
After doing time for his dogfighting conviction, Michael Vick got an opportunity to redeem himself (see related story). Now, Dan Leone (right) says that he wants his opportunity for reprieve, too:
“I figure, if a guy like that can get a second chance to make millions, why can’t I get a second chance? I won’t cost them that much to work there.”
Last March the Eagles fired Leone, a game-day security worker, after he criticized the team’s decision not to re-sign Brian Dawkins on his Facebook page.
Leone told WIP Radio on Tuesday morning that he would take his job back if the Eagles offered:
“I deserve a second chance. I didn’t commit any crimes or kill any dogs. And I’m left jobless.”
Eagles spokeswoman Pamela Browner-Crawley says the difference is that Leone broke team rules, and then went public, speaking to the media:
“As Coach Reid said the other day, not everybody deserves a second chance. It’s what do you do once you make a mistake, and how do you move forward?”
She says Vick earned his second chance by apologizing, and pledging to do the right thing.
Here’s the link:
Fired Eagles Worker
The Eagles really opened up Pandoras box hiring Michael Vick. People are going to come out of the wood work looking for second chances now, just apologize and promise (even after telling lies) that you will do the right thing.
Yeah, right. The Eagles can attempt to rationalize their poor decision making tactics but everyone saw right through their public relations tactics and knew it to be garbage from day one (actually from about minute 1) Thanks to a Michael Vick Supporter (ironic that) we were on top of it minutes after it happened.
obviously the worker wasn’t good at his job.
lol
Yeah, I hear you. Its a real terrible thing for an employee of a sports team to talk about sports on their Facebook page. That must have really created issues for him while he was trying to complete his duties in security.
The Eagles are just lucky their Peanut & Beer vendors don’t talk about sports on Facebook. That would surely be the end of the team if a social conversation broke out with that group.
Hi, Chavez.
But THAT wasn’t the reason he was terminated. Re-read the article, a little slower this time. He was fired because he discussed a team decision on his Facebook page, as confirmed by Eagle spokeswoman, Pamela Browner-Crawley.
And as always, Doglover 332 – You swat them down like the flies!!!
I know what happened to that man. He critized his employers. The difference between him and Vick is that Michael Vick is great at football, and that employer was just an average worker. IF THE MAN WAS AMAZING AT HIS JOB HE WOULDN’T GET FIRED. You know if an average player did what michael vick did he would not get a second chance and their would be no website. Besides the man critized his employer, michael vick did something that didn’t involve football. Are you trying to say that every man who gets fired deserves to get his job back???Thats absurd. Don’t compare pro sports to regular job because im pretty sure you cannot retire and unretire countless times at a real job and expect to have your job, which is what Brett Favre keeps doing.
4 simple things NFL fans can do to show the Eagles what a huge mistake they’ve made in signing Vick to a 2-year contract:
1. Season ticket holders should just not attend home games. Selling your tickets to cretins who want to support the Eagles and Vick is NOT an act of protest; lots of empty seats at home games is.
2. Don’t watch any Fox Sports coverage of the NFC East (I’m a Redsins fan and this is a huge sacrifice I’m willing to make) as Fox Sports will be airing all of the Eagles games.
3. Send a letter or e-mail to any Eagles sponsor/advertiser with which you currently do business that until they end their relationsihp with the Eagles, you’re ending your patronage of them.
4. Do the same with any company that advertises with Fox Sports during their NFC East telecasts.
Eagles management made a VERY BAD DECISION by choosing greed over integrity. You get to make your own decision not to support the Eagles by not supporting those companies that, through their advertsing dollars, help the Eagles pay Vick $7,000,000 over 2 years. It’s just sick what he did and now he’s being rewarded.
And remember:
Hide your Beagle; Vick’s and Eagle
Great points and ideas Peter, especially the push for empty seats!
I’m going to have to use this now on my mass bloggings!
Well stated, Peter. You offer excellent solutions, speaks highly on character.
Thank you for speaking up, too many are being silent.
We need to scream it,…”FORGIVE? NEVER!…SACK VICK!”.
Peter,
I’ve got another idea. Some of my Philly friends and long time season ticket holders are tailgating anyway with their pups, then selling their tickets to the opposing team’s fans. Losing the home field advantage sends a pretty big statement and they’re not losing money. The ones that can afford to eat the cost but take a tax write off are planning on donating the tickets to children’s charities of opposing teams. Fill the seats with kids who will boo him AND not buy stadium beer.
Can you imagine if every Sunday, Lincoln looked like an AWAY game? ROFL.
Just my 2 cents,
Pamela
Oh, Pamela! That is THE most brilliant idea! Is there an actual movement underfoot?
I’m loving it!!
Lisa,
Thanks! Unfortunately, I’m down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana so I’m not sure how much I can get the word out. If any of the locals would like to take this idea and run with it, feel free to do so. I’ve been posting on the bulletin boards I can find (CL and the dog rescue groups). I don’t have enough friends STILL in the Philly area to get an email in everyone’s box. Any ideas? I’ll help in any way I can.

I think a fair question to ask the Eagles after their public statements of second chances and rehabilitation is “What other positions in the
organization are convicted felons being recruited and hired for”?
Will the Eagles be hiring ex cons to be ticket takers, ushers, sanitation, front
office personnel, or even personal assistants to Reid, Banner and Laurie?
I seriously doubt it.
My biggest problem with the whole thing is that we are further fostering a culture where it doesn’t matter what you do,
as long as you can run, and throw the ball.
You are one astute poster, Vick Michaels!!!
xo
That is a great point…do the Eagles regularly hire convicted felons?? Dog killing, sadistic felons??
Are the ticket takers, food workers felons??
How about the front office people?
Doctor, Nurse, Lawyer, so many avenues of employment
would not take Vick back..but the NFL has NO shame apparently. Would these same people hire felons to babysit and teach their kids?? How about a felon to clean their home??
Is their secretary a sadistic felon??
as for the “debate” here…I wish the owner of this site would simply approve messages…and stop allowing the debate. Their are other sites for that. Here I wish to share ideas and ways to let the NFL and the Eagles and Michael Vick himself know just how disgusted many sane and sympathetic American people are.
I am much more interested in letting companies know I won’t be using thier products if they help to pay Vick’s paycheck.
My friend has the sweetest little Chi named “Splenda”>>> I won’t use splenda and neither will she..I will use Stevia
I will drink Coke instead of Pepsi. I want the companies to know just how I feel.
I would rather do something proactive than debate
Tastycake really seems to be coming around…I hope they will stand up and “do the right thing”…and others will follow
Vick will be infamous forever….his name should be used to describe cruelty.,…as in “he vicked them”..
or “vick off”
Oh…my….I am feeling very hopeful
as I told you…I spoke at length with a lovely woman at Tastycake..they truly are sick about the Eagles, and she told me they felt “blindsided” when Vick was signed
Now….on the Eagles homepage..where it had Tastycake…there is NO more Tastycake logo on the blog…the blog WAS called the “Tsstycake Blog” just a few days ago
their logo is still on the Sponsors page…but where they had many ads on the website there are now none, there are ads for other sponsors
the other day I thought Tastycake alone sponsored the Eagles website…now no ads from them
keep letting these people know..nicely…that it is in their own best interest to “do the right thing”
and stand up for what is right
and what is right : Keep Vick out of the NFL for good
Contact Turkey Hill Ice Cream..
https://www.turkeyhill.com/general/contact-us.asp
they say they are in the Peaceful Amish country…those are good people….so unlike Monster Vick. Ask Turkey Hill to take their logo off the “blogs” on the Eagles site
Don’t drink Pepsi…don’t eat at KFC or Taco Bell
and let them know why
Hi, Estys!
Thank you for the link to Turkey Hill – just sent them a letter – and I was very curteous
OMG – how can we find out of Tastycakes has pulled their sponsorship? I’m off to check the Eagles page. I’ve written to Tastycakes, both email and snail mail, yet haven’t heard back.
Thanks for the update, Estys. Great job!!
If anyone has a before and after picture of the Tastycakes sponsorship on the site and then off the site, I’d love to feature it.
Similarly, if anyone gets a confirmation from TastyCakes that they have removed or ended their sponsorship, I’d like to make certain that we remove them from our lists of sponsors to boycott.
In fact, if they have ended things with the Eagles, I’d like to buy some TastyKakes!
ps looks like they are normally involved with good things for kids http://www.tastykake.com/gearforgood.aspx
(not sure about how healthy their food is, but in moderation . . . . )

Eagles sponsor 94 wysp has a link to send feedback directly to the studio. I recommend this link be used often to express how you feel about the vick signing

Yeah that’s the funny thing about associated press articles they are ’syndicated’ so of course its republished.
yea websites mess up all the time im sorry. Like this one website I was on the other day that was anti-michael vick. It spells his name wrong and has incorrect information regarding when michael vick is eligible to be fully reinstated. Now what was the name of that website???
It will be interesting to see if http://twitter.com/apgelston had his facts straight or if the sponsors are just now starting to leave after the article was written.
What a troll this guy is.
You people are idiots. All this wasted time on a boycott that is having ZERO effect. Sponsors are IGNORING YOU. They all have spam filters that delete mails with the word “Vick” in them. dont’ you even GET IT??
Find something constructive to do with your pathetic, empty lives!! Please???!
Hello,
Not sure if you’ve heard but we’re trying to get a movement going with sports bars around the country to boycott the Eagles games. See the videos at the links below..
http://www.krem.com/video/featured-index.html?nvid=391313&shu=1
Thanks for sharing that video. I have to admit that I’m impressed with the sports bars that are rapidly joining this list.
I don’t see the big deal. Once he’s back in form, Vick will be a great replacement for McNabb. MV made a mistake, apologized for it, SERVED his time (some refer to it as a debt to society), and is now back playing football. Am I to believe that no one here with all their morals believes in redemption? Because of your high moral standards no one here has sinned and than needed a little redemption right?
So don’t boycott, we already have a bad enough economy. Except for Verizon, but they just suck (AT&T for life). Go out, enjoy some football with a couple cold ones with your buddies, and hope that the Eagles go far.
God forgives EVERYBODY! Why cant you? Just leave him alone, let him do his job, and get over it. He didnt rape anyone. He didnt do or sell drugs. He didnt drink and drive. He said he was sorry and mad a mistake Hasnt he paid his debt to society already?
love JimO’s comment. I am so sick over this whole situation. i have been through the gamut of emotions. I want to know who to boycott. I am a cocktail waitress on the casino floor i serve beer 30hrs a week. i can make a difference there by pushing coronas, hienekens and so on. i need to know exactly who to boycott.
Hi Maria,
Here’s a page that lists the brands associated with Pepsico, Budweiser and Miller (beers on the 2nd page):
http://www.whitehall-michigan-pet-sitting.com/support-files/sponsorlistpdf.pdf
As you can see, it doesn’t leave a whole lot of choices, but my hubby reluctantly switched to Samuel Adams Light and found out he loves it! It’s a little more expensive but it’s also one of the last (and the largest) American owned breweries left, so we both feel good about that.
Incidentally, Budweiser used to be an American owned company but according to Wikipedia it was bought out by InBev late 2008. Within 6 months they had laid off 1400 employees and 450 contractors, announced they would no longer contribute to pensions and said they will stop providing life insurance for retirees. The King of Beers? Not anymore!
Good luck!
Its easy to skip a bud.
As a longtime supporter of the ASPCA & PETA, I’m definitely disappointed in the posters in this forum despite my respect for all of your passion. While I certainly agree that the Michael Vick dog fighting ring situation was a despicable tragedy, I firmly believe that Vick paid a dear price and is on a superb track now that he’s out of prison and has been given a second chance. His community activism and simply taking full responsibility for the situation is commendable.
I think it’s time to throw our support behind a clearly remorseful and attitude-adjusted Vick and use his celebrity to continue to get the word out that dog fighting and animal abuse are unacceptable. He’s a solid individual and is now one of our biggest allies.
I’m sorry but I just don’t see where Vick is “clearly remorseful”. What I do see is a smart man with a great publicity crew who did what he had to do in order to play in the NFL again.
Since you are a supporter of the ASPCA and Peta, have you voiced your concerns to them? Both groups decided against allowing Vick to use them and Peta even went so far as calling him a psychopath. So, apparently his remorse is not very clear to them either.
If Vick is sincere, great, but it’s going to take more than a few words and half-hearted appearances to convince me.
This blog forum was set up in larger part as we did not see eye to eye with PETA (mostly in their tactics and partly in some of their views). We are not affiliated with the ASPCA.
Michael Vick did pay a somewhat dear price (millions of sponsors dollars down the drain) and a year and a half in prison, but that price was not nearly matched by the collateral damage he inflicted on the people that he sucked into dog fighting, one of whom paid for that with his life.
He also did not pay nearly the same price as his sponsors, the NFL, the Falcons nor fans that gave him support for 6 years while he was running a multi-state dog fighting ring and torturing dogs.
Then he gets out of prison and basically takes steps to do it all over again, paying lip service to an apology on TV and at a privileged charter school in Philadelphia that is so far removed from typical Philadelphia high schools that its reminiscent of of George W Bush going to speak at a VFW for the photo op of people supporting his war efforts.
I’d agree with Kim, he’s really done nothing. I’m all for second chances for Michael Vick, but I’m not for a second mistake of letting him play in the NFL supported by fan dollars, hence our continued efforts to have him and other violent criminal removed from the NFL. Let him go get a job anywhere else where he is legally allowed to do so, but not with our money, and not where are kids are subject to his VERY bad example.
A solid individual who is now one of our biggest allies?
You have got to be kidding (or else you’re Wayne Pacelle, the only person in the animal welfare movement who’s buyingthe idea that Vick’s giving a couple of “I made a mistake” talks means anything)
I don’t believe you support either of those organizations. Neither PETA nor ASPCA supports Vick. And most people in HSUS don’t either, if they told the truth.
does it really matter what you think ga dog lover? you matter as much as a 4 year old in preschool.
This is my last response to you. you are a troll and i’m going to do to you what I do to other Vick supporter trolls. IGNORE.
again im not a vick supporter. if you could read or at least finsih elementary school you would know that. have a nice day.
Coke is a sponsor to, drink Shasta, they have taken steps to NOT support vic and the nfl and to give us dog lovers an alternative and to be honest dr shasta tastes a lot better than dr pepper and its cheaper. They got a lot of the same flavors and coke and pepsi and more flavors. I used to love dr pepper and tried going back to it after drinking dr shasta before knowing it was also a sponsor just like mt dew and sprite(pepsi and coke products) but it did not tast the same. My mom hates dr pepper but loves dr shasta.
The back of shasta products has their address write them a thank you. They are proud NOT to represent the national felony league and proud to represent the every day joe and jane who love their pets =almost everyone who doesnt play for the NFL.
oops for the spell police if they are here I meant drink shasta
fixed that spelling thing for you.
Thanks for the input. I was wondering about coke on this one.
maria yes you can make a difference by trying to push it but unfortunatly have to give in if a customer wants coors or bud. You see you dont play football for the nfl so if you get fired or are seen as too pushy unlike mike you will not get your job back and you will most likely have a hard time finding any job for a long time,so yes try but give in if you have to. vic is not worth loosing your job for.
