Contact The Dallas Morning News – Let them know if Remorse Matters to You

image I was reading an interesting article in the Dallas Morning News today.  The article managed to sum up a number of items that seem to result in the most arguments here in our comments section, which have been upgraded a bit so that you can now click on a persons name and view other comments they have left in other threads or articles.

The Dallas News article ends with the following question essentially, “Does it matter if Michael Vick showed remorse?  and if so has he shown Enough remorse yet?”

Now personally, I view the situation differently.  Michael Vick lied about dog fighting for years and years, even after his home was raided and he was caught by the feds, even after the Falcons and the NFL commissioner spoke with them he still lied and they all bought it at the time.  This tells me one thing about Michael Vick, he is good at telling lies.  So with that in mind, I personally don’t care how much remorse he ‘shows’, because he has a long long history of telling lies and making people believe him.  Could be he’s a great actor or could be he’s a sociopath and doesn’t know the difference between a lie or the truth.  I don’t care either way, it is still just a lie being told by Michael Vick.

However, I don’t represent everyone but a long shot, so what do you think?

A jail term and NFL consequences are one issue. Public opinion is another. What do we think of Vick’s return? Does he deserve the honor of putting on an NFL uniform ever again? In an NFL that features the occasional wife-beater, whoremonger and drug user, we must prioritize: Where does animal cruelty fit on the indignation spectrum? From the beginning, I’ve found a demographic component in the varying answers to that question. Many in the black community, and many people of all races who live in rural areas, still wonder why this is a big deal at all. I guess it depends on whether the dogs in your life sleep in your bed or in the back yard. But there are enough dog lovers in America to give Vick a rough ride as he travels with the Eagles this year. At Eagles road games, look for picketers outside the stadium and taunts inside, whether he’s playing or not. Dec. 6 should be an interesting exercise as Vick returns to Atlanta, where he rose to NFL prominence. Meanwhile, I will wait for that Humane Society PSA campaign and other evidence that his remorse is real. Mark Davis is heard weekdays from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on WBAP-AM, News/Talk 820. Here’s a great article showing that the Eagles should have went after Brett Favre instead of Michael Vick — positive reporting that deserve attention. Everyone should read this.

    • Great spot on sharing this article, Tan,…thanks!

    • Chavez:

Yes the eagles should have went after brett favre, that is an idiotic comment that a non-football fan should says. I understand you hate michael vick but don’t try to act like you know football because none of you do.

      • I don’t hate Vick,…I hate what he did!

I don’t hate the NFL,…I hate their decision to put a heinous animal killing convicted felon back as a role model for our youth.

One doesn’t have to know Bret’s or Vick stats,…I know that killing, hanging, drowning, and slamming animals to the ground to kill them is sick,…and it take much longer than two years to get over it!

        Forgive NEVER! Sack Vick!

        • LaNora Boyd:

Vick has no remorse. He only cares about getting the money that the Eagles offered him. 19 months was not enough time for what he did. I say hang vick.

        • Helen Hayek:

He should be lucky to only get sacked. In my opinion he deserves the same death he gave to his poor innocent dogs. Vick is a vicious monster and no amount of jail time or lies will ever change that.

    • gus man:

That article is just plain dumb. Farve is old and the eagles did not need him to play qb so that article is just a fluff piece to get all you vick haters all crazy. By the way eagles took vick because he is an athletic player plain and simple.

  • DogLover332 – sackcick.net is mentioned in the above article!! Woooo Hoooo!!!

    Thanks, Tan!

  • oops…. forgive the above typo – meant ‘sackvick.net’. Toooo enthusiastic to type.

    :)

  • Ga dog_lover:

I bet Sack Vick gets mentioned alot. I posted it about 40 times today!

  • Dorothy:

    Did you see this dog?
(Warning: It’s very hard to look at)
    http://www.usanimalprotection.org/gypsy100.jpg

Michael Vick saw this for eight years and continued to do it – for FUN. If he were ever capable of feeling remorse, it would have happened the first time he saw that.

  • Dorothy:

And FYI, this was Best Buy’s response to my email about their sponsorship of the Eagles not that they have signed Vick:

“Thank you for your comments and we do appreciate your business with us,
however we do plan to continue our sponsorship of the Philadelphia Eagles
as our focus is on the fans, not on the players. Any questions and
comments about Michael Vick should be directed to the NFL.”

    Bye bye Best Buy……..

  • sherrie:

Bye bye best buy from me,too, and from everyone i can reach. They even violate my default rule– if tied contractually beyond hope, at least publicize clear and unconditional disgust. I posted the letter I got back from Pepsi in here somewhere,- That sort of models what I’m saying here. of course the goal is 100% withdrawal of support…

  • Benji:

    Dorothy -

That picture is sickening and repulsive. And I think it should be e-mailed to every sponsor, Jeff Lurie, Roger Goodell, and anyone else involved in allowing this guy to return to the multi-million dollar world of the NFL.

A doctor, teacher, cop (ya know, REAL Role Models) convicted of a felony would never be allowed to resume their career in their previous field. That Vick is not only allowed, but also paid millions to help his “recovery” is sickening.

  • Vick is doing absolutely nothing more than he is required to do in order to have his contract. He is working with the Humane Society (HSUS) because he HAS TO. He is telling people he is sorry because he HAS TO. He is on probation for three years. He HAS TO walk the straight and narrow, or should I say, not get caught when he doesn’t walk the straight and narrow, or he will return to prison. I don’t gamble but I am willing to guess that those same dogfighting cronies of his are betting on how long it takes for him to break and get caught doing something and heading back to lockup.
As folks with a legitimate beef about his actions, we know it took time for the feds to put together an air-tight case and arrest Vick and his partners. We also know it will take time for the shiny to wear off Vick and for the sponsors to start feeling the heat of what backing him does to them financially. The sad part is that the employees of those companies will also feel the heat.
The NFL is showing itself for the bully it is by putting their sponsors in this position and telling all football fans what they really think of them. No wonder so many fans have said for years they would rather support college football instead.

I have never despised a man like I do Sick Vick. What a travesty of justice! This is proof the devil does take care of his own! His interview made me want to puke, there was no emotion there, he was going through the motions – damage control. He killed and tortured his victims for no other reason than he enjoyed it! Anyone who is capable of such torture and can enjoy causing such suffering and pain is not capable of remorse for such acts. He is a sadistic sociopath. What is scary sociopaths even after prison invariably repeat their crimes, they enjoy the addiction of inflicting pain so much they repeat their crimes. He’ll just be more careful, maybe only bring one doggie at a time home to torture, if he could restrain himself to only one. And he cried in prison! Please! He didn’t say he cries anymore now huh? He cried for himself in prison. What about the rescuers that had to pick up the pieces? I’m sure they cried when they walked into that death camp. I know I’ve cried a hell of a lot along with many others. The people who had to see what he did will be affected by it for the rest of their lives, I’m sure. And they make a big deal about him speaking to kids against animal abuse. Hello people, it’s part of his parole and damage control, its not out of the goodness of his heart. You have those who make millions such as the Pitts, Oprah, Pamela Anderson, Paul Macarthy who do so many good things to help people and animals, then You have this piece of garbage who uses his money to cause pain and suffering, a canine holacost! He stated “I’m not a beast.” No Vick you’re not, God never made a beast as evil, cruel and foul as yourself. You’re a sick sociopath. And what does America do? They give him more millions to catch a ball. What about the dogs whose teeth he ripped out? They’ll never catch a ball. He’s so sorry, it makes me wonder how many of his millions he’ll be donating to animal welfare? He’s a piece of garbage. He may put on a 3000 dollar suit and do his phoney interview but, he’s still a piece of garbage in an expensive suit, and a sadist and a sociopath. Hopefully there’s justice in the afterlife and his handbasket is ready and waiting for him.
