Does the NFL Have the Authority to Remove Michael Vick from the NFL under the CBA
Many people have indicated that Roger Goodell does not have the authority to prevent Michael Vick from playing in the NFL. After reviewing the CBA (its only a few hundred pages long), it would appear to me that the Commissioner does have this authority based on the CBA’s following sections (at a minimum I suspect there are more)
(view the CBA its about a 3.6 mb pdf file)
See Appendix C Section 15
Note this section states that any NFL player that knowingly associates with gamblers or gambling activity; . . . .then the Commissioner will have the right, but only after giving Player the opportunity for a hearing at which he may be represented by counsel of his choice, to fine Player in a reasonable amount; to suspend Player for a period certain or indefinitely; and/or to terminate this contract.
Furthermore, the NFL CBA seems to recognize that any player like Michael Vick has the power to damage the NFL if their conduct is not held up to an appropriate standard.
This clause does not link suspension or removal, but as it is part of the contract failure of a player to live up to this clause could make the contract voidable and therefore remove the player from the club or the league.
The CBA provides appendix G which lays out the standard Notice of Termination as follows

Man trying to find anyway possible to kick out Vick still. You know if you had a voice in the league you could do damage….o well. But with the money Vick is going to make for the league they don’t care. Money speaks loudly my friend.
hence a focus on sponsors and a boycott
as always you have half a story. Now go back and read some results from those meetings held with other players previously. the union will have them in court and use their influence to bring them to congress and challenge their anti trust exemption. The first section you cite is known as the “gambling clause”, so I am not sure why you used it.
ANyway there are provisions written into the CBA that can cause a player to be suspended and lose their contract GUESS WHAT? HE LOST HIS CONTRACT AND WAS SUSPENDED INDEFINITLEY. But after the hearing it was determined that two years was long enough and he was reinstated. Now of course you will reply something simple because complicated issues are always simplified by radicals. But the bottom line is a player would have to have some extraordinary circumstances to be banished from the league forever, the union would not stand for it and it would surely lead to a challenge of the anti trust exemption for the league. it is a nuclear option that you will never see used.
I cited the gambling clause because Michael Vick ran an ILLEGAL GAMBLING RING running across several states. Kind of hard to run a GAMBLING RING for six years and not associate with GAMBLERS.

BIG FAIL sackvick.net!!! hahaha how about you go after this person!
You are truly grasping at straws now. First, we are not associated with the Virginia SPCA. Second, there is a big difference between an accident and choosing to walk out your back door and kill a dog every day.
You chose to buy your German Shepard some clothes, but you didn’t wake up electrocute your German Shepard today. There’s a big difference between you and Michael Vick, just like there is a big difference between the head of the VA SPCA and Michael Vick.
Regardless, I do appreciate you sharing the link with us. It definitely helps the site!
It seems to please them to no end that this poor owner lost their pet of 16 years. another thing to make us love Vick fans even more. NOT
I would like to say alot of things right now that would just be deleted so I will just say a prayer for their pet and the owners.
strange, but dog fighting and game cock,ie.rooster fighting has been a big sport in the south for countless generations among whitr men, bussiness men and good ol boy politicians, but now a black man is involved and all you lilly white special interest groups are out to castrate him. maybe you should climb in your beamers and go back to your wine and bree or your starbucks and mind your own sins,i am sure your guilty of something, seeing you have all this idle time to persucute others.
Just because something has been taking place for years doesn’t make it right.
There were a lot of bad things that USED to happen in the south that don’t happen any more because people of every race stood up and put a stop to it.
Just because some people like to electrocute dogs for fun, doesn’t make it acceptable. Just because Michael Vick is not alone in his warped desire to torture and kill his dogs with his bare hands, doesn’t make it any where near right.
So how about you go back to the drawing boards and come up with a better argument to support Michael Vick if you like, but blaming his crimes on other people being racist is just wasting time.
We do not want to see Michael Vick castrated nor any harm come to him, we simply do not want to continue sponsoring him with our fan money. He abused us for six years. Only a fool takes abuse and lies like that for six years, and goes back for more.
