The Curse of Michael Vick Starts to Haunt Eagles Season

image Michael Vick was a relatively talented quarterback, but those talents never came close to his ability to lay waste to everything he touches.  The Eagles might have had their first hint of the Curse of Michael Vick today.

During what should have been an easy route of the North Carolina Panthers, McNabb was hit (late by most accounts) and broke some ribs.  He will probably miss at least one game and possibly more, opening the door for Michael Vick to not only return to NFL after killing dogs for fun for six years and running an illegal gambling ring across multiple states, but return to the NFL possibly as the starting quarterback for the Eagles.

Michael Vick has a long history of spoiling almost everything he touches ranging from deals with corporate sponsors, to the goodwill of fans, to his own career, to his finances, to business deals, to the Falcons, the truth and humanity and more.  All victims of what could be described as the Curse of Michael Vick.

He comes in with promises and a smile and walks away leaving a spoiled wasteland of business plans and sports dreams.  McNabb didn’t even last through the opening game of the season before the Curse of Michael Vick struck in the form of a late hit.  We really don’t want to see anyone hurt and have mentioned that many times.  We don’t want to see any harm come to Michael Vick nor any of his poor team mates thrown into the locker room with a relatively psycho dog killer, but if we can’t appeal to Roger Goodell to do the right thing, and if The Eagles as an organization won’t listen, it looks like they might just end up stuck with the bad luck that Michael Vick is able to conjure up.  If Michael Vick had been a pitcher and not a quarter back, you can sure bet that the superstitious Red Sox would have never picked up this problem waiting to happen.

* Note we don’t really believe in superstition, nor in curses for that matter, we’ll leave that for the Scooby Doo plot lines.  We do think that Michael Vick spoils every thing he touches as evidenced by everything he has ever done almost.  With that in mind in 80 years if people look back on decades of loosing Eagles football seasons they might be able to say that we said it first.  ;)

I don’t believe in curses either, but I do believe what goes around comes around.

I also believe the old saying that you get what you pay for. The Eagles clearly should have known what they were getting when they decided to buy a rude, lying, arrogant, felon/dog killer who flipped off his own fans. They can’t blame anybody but themselves if things don’t work out as they had hoped.

i guess mcnabb has been cursed by vick for years because he gets injured just about every year.

  • Ga dog_lover:

    Such a surprise!LMAO

  • Max:

The Eagles are signing Jeff Garcia who led them to the playoffs in 2006 which a number of sports reporters say is because the team isn’t at all confident about Vick’s progress as a true option at QB

    • I think there is a saying, something along the lines of time and or intelligence will tell. :)

    • tom arnold:

or probably because they don’t want to play with one active QB on the roster this weekend.

      • Max:

Obviously they need a backup to Kolb and AJ Feeley turned them down. However bringing in Garcia says that they are willing to take on the baggage that comes along with him

For someone who claims “I’m not a Vick supporter,” you certainly spend a lot of time defending him

        • Ga dog_lover:

That’s because they defend his skin and not his profession. You would be surprised how many posters say this on vick forums.

        • tom arnold:

Please Max quote me on a time I have defended mike vick. If there was one you may have misinterpreted what I was trying to say and I apoligize for that. Honestly, Mike Vick commited horrible acts of violence and hate. He should have not been let back so easy. But I like all of you, cannot do anything about it. Nor that any of us should really care to do anything because Mike Vick has little affect on our lives if any. It seems like most of you people cannot see that.

Also, I do not know how I made the indication that I supported Vick by telling the truth of the QB situation. But to respond to what you said, Feeley did turn down the Eagles and I do not blame him. He was treated bad admist the entire Vick situation plus he has a legit shot of playing in Carolina. And despite anything negative that Garcia brings he knows the system and no other QB available could contribute this weekend like Garcia can. It really doesn’t send a message about Vick people didn’t already know. I mean he just came back to practice this week after about a week off. The man is mainly brought in to run a wildcat formation that will attempt to fix the burdens the eagles have on goal line situations. No one realistically thought that Vick could become a starting QB so soon.

I apologize for labeling you a “Vick defender” but I truly don’t understand why anyone who isn’t should be so bothered by a group of people trying to protest his being permitted to return to the NFL even if you believe we can have no impact.
He may not have a direct effect on my life or yours (one could say the same thing about almost any type of criminal) but I believe that the under-punishment of people who have committed animal abuse sends the message that some lives have little or no value.
I’m not singling out Vick, I have engaged in numerous protests in cases where people who have abused dogs have been treated too leniently by the criminal justice system. I do so in hopes that the next time an animal abuser goes into the same jurisdiction’s court, the judges and lawyers will have learned that their actions don’t go unnoticed.
I feel it’s vital to keep letting the Eagles know that what the team did by signing him is not alright with all of their fan base. It may not get rid of Vick but perhaps the next time Goodell is confronted with a similar choice, he will think twice. And if not, it will still make me feel better to try to give a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves

  • Ga dog_lover:

How much you want to bet Vick’s family cheered when MsNabb was hurt like they did at Virginia Tech?

  • Sandy:

And so the “curse” continues. 21 point loss to SAINTS!!! LMAO

  • Sam23:

vick is tainted with curse and he will smear it all over the rest of the Eagles. I think they will lose significantly more games this year than usual.

  • Pat:

I live in Philly and am a big animal lover and needless to say that when they signed Michael Vick I couldn’t believe it. My husband is a big Eagles fan so when there is a game on our house is a house divided. Last week he got the last laugh when the birds won but I got the last laugh yesterday. I hope they lose every game as long as Michael Vick is a member of that team. I don’t believe in curses either but like what was said earlier, what goes around, comes around. That man had been doing dogfighting since his teen years so just how sorry do people really think he is? He is only sorry because he got caught, otherwise he would still be doing it. Those poor dogs never got a 2nd chance so why should he. I would like to do to him what he did to those poor dogs. He doesn’t deserve to be in the NFL. I liked it last week when every time Vick came on the field the Carolina fans booed him, not the Eagles so much, just him. Our own fans don’t even do that. They cheer him on.

A website I belong to, DPFAMILY, is holding a contest to keep the Vick story in the spotlight.
A Michael Vick chew toy will go to the person who comes closest to guessing the score of the first game Vick plays in which the Eagles lose.
