Social Media Protest Tips – If you attend, make sure you share pictures or video via YouTube, don’t forget to get your banners, t-shirts etc in the picture and where possible capture those protest signs and t-shirts next to images from corporate event sponsors!
Pro Animal/Anti Vick protect Sunday 10/11 at 11th & Pattison: 11am – 1:30 pm *AND AT EVERY HOME GAME!*
Please join us in protesting the NFL, the Eagles and the hiring of Vick at the Eagles game at Franklin Financial Field on Sunday 10/11 at 11th & Pattison Avenue in South Philadelphia. Please bring signs and a thick skin. The media is portraying Vick as someone who simply "bankrolled a dog fighting operation" when in fact he killed numerous dogs himself. Please join fellow animal lovers and let our voices be heard and the facts be known. Hope to see you on Sunday. Thanks for caring.
Location:
1 Citizens Bank Way
Philadelphia, PA 19101TIP ABOUT PARKING: Don’t put a penny into the pockets of the Eagles by parking in one of the pay lots. You can park on Broad Street north of the CVS (in the residential neighborhood). It’s a bit of a hike, but worth it to save $20.00 or $25.00.

Don’t even try to park in residential neighborhoods anywhere within 2 miles of Lincoln Financial Field. Your car will be towed. If you don’t want to pay the Eagles for parking, make sure to take public transportation.
great point, carpool or bus might be a good option.
Good luck guys. Thank you and please stick together. BE careful.
I didn’t see a better place to post this, so here goes.
First, I’m dismayed that this site doesn’t appear to be getting updated any more.
Second, we’ve been notified by Zazzle that they’re pulling our anti-Michael Vick merchandise! Our best-selling design is featured here on this site–it’s the “Hey, Michael…” merchandise. Zazzle tells us: “We have been contacted by the intellectual property right holder and at their request we will be removing your product from Zazzle’s Marketplace due to intellectual property claims.” What’s interesting is that the ONLY name mentioned on the product is “Michael”–there’s no mention of “Vick” or anything else specifically identifying the piece of shit dogfighter. There are MILLIONS of Michaels in the world, but Piece of Shit Vick doesn’t want this design sold.
They’re also pulling our “Vick the dick” line, which is okay–at least I can understand that, as “Vick” is more personally identifying than “Michael.”
I’ll be posting more about this on our blog, http://smartassproducts.blogspot.com when I get a chance. It just amazes me that someone who had no problem TORTURING and KILLING defenseless, innocent, helpless animals doesn’t want his name associated with those very acts. Fucking coward.
Have you tried calling them on this through twitter?
http://twitter.com/zazzle maybe a little public pressure is in order (assuming your IP ducks are in a row)
I’m battling it out with Zazzle’s ‘content management’ team via e-mail right now.
They said: “Zazzle was contacted by Counsel for the NFL, and requested the removal of products that violated their trademarks, copyrights, or intellectual property rights. Including but not limited to team names, logos, players’ names and likenesses, color combinations and other related content are the protected intellectual property of the NFL and may not be used on Zazzle products without permission.”
Look at the design! All it says is: “Hey, Michael, how would you like to be hung, electrocuted or drowned for not performing well enough?” WHERE does that in any way, shape or form violate anything in the NFL’s list? It DOESN’T!! Michael could be anyone on earth named Michael.
So I wrote back: “Well, as I said in my original reply, the name “Michael”–BY ITSELF, with no other identifying information, such as last name, football team, football team’s city, etc.–in no way infringes on Michael Vick’s rights. Period. I mean this is a no-brainer! Did you actually look at the design in question? If so you MUST agree that there is NO infringement here. Please read the rules again sent by the NFL. This design DOES NOT violate anything, unless the NFL has the power to deem ALL first names off limits. Ridiculous!”
Good idea about Twitter; I follow Zazzle there anyway.
even if you are referring to Michael Vick (or calling him out by his full name) satire is a protected form of speech, even with lampooning images.
I thought I could avoid ANY problems by not using his full name. I was wrong. But I’m not going to let this slide, because I simply cannot believe that the NFL has the power to control the commercial use of FIRST NAMES!
According to the e-mails I’ve received from Zazzle, I have to assume that everybody else will have their anti-Vick stuff yanked, too. So a lot of the shirts shown on this site are likely to disappear.
If you, or anyone, would like to follow me and/or comment about this for me on Twitter, I’m twitter.com/saproducts
Amazing!
Here’s an update on my situation with Zazzle: I didn’t argue about my “Vick the dick” gear, but I VEHEMENTLY opposed the NFL’s claim that my “Hey, Michael…” merchandise infringed on Vick the dog killer’s rights. Apparently, Zazzle agreed! Although I have not received anything from them explicitly saying so, their actions appear to show that they don’t plan on removing that design. While they did delete most “Vick the dick” stuff, they did NOT delete any “Hey, Michael” stuff, AND orders have continued coming in, AND they’ve continued fulfilling them!
So I think we’re cool.
I’m glad to hear that you have had some success here, that is cool. I think Zazzle could fight for your rights to offer the Vick the Dick worded shirts as well. Even if they could trademark his last name (not possible to copyright it), you would still be protected under the first amendment in regards to your right to use satire and protest of public figures and Michael Vick, most definitely is a public figure (worthy of protest and satire).
I think with Zazzle it’s a matter of taking the path of least resistance, so they’d rather remove the questionable designs than fight it out with the NFL. I’m okay with that on the “Vick the dick” stuff…well, I mean I’m MORE okay with it than I would be with the “Hey, Michael…” stuff, the latter of which is not only my best-selling design but also, as we’ve discussed, does NOT personally identify the scumbag.
What really pisses me off the most, and I think I said this in an earlier post, is that Vick didn’t care what he did to those defenseless dogs, but TALK ABOUT IT? PUBLICIZE IT with anti-Vick merchandise? Oh, he can’t take that! What a coward.
Yeah I agree with you there. Its OK for Vick to spend money on publicists, its OK for the NFL to send in Tony Dungy to give his personal endorsement of Michael Vick setting the stage for it to be ‘ok for fans to accept Michael Vick’ back in the NFL (and pave dungy’s way towards being the new/future commissioner some day ‘oh, great coach and look what he did to reform Michael Vick’ – Bleh! Crap)
Basically, this isn’t just about Vick, it never has been. Its the entire corporation behind Michael Vick, and the corporate sponsors not wanting their cash cow of sales from NFL related activity to get tipped over.
They don’t care about the dogs nor the people Michael Vick hurt. They just want the whole thing to go away, blow over and set the stage for them to ring the cash register on the backs of any one they can.
That’s OK, their game is a pretty old one and they aren’t fooling as many people as it might seem.
Very, very well said, DL.
If you weren’t making any impact, the NFL wouldn’t have bothered so congratulations for helping to keep the light shining on the darkness of animal abuse
