Well that’s a bunch of crap. Not only was one of Vick’s business partner’s murdered during this situation, but Vick’s actions against dogs set an example for other kids and people to follow, just like Vick probably followed some twisted role model himself.

I’m not saying that Vick is the start of violence against dogs or animals, but he was not enough a man to stop it before it did more damage, damage that is still spreading today.

Witness the case of the dog that was recently set on fire. Sick, twisted, demented, and one more unfortunate example of people that fell victim to the cowardly examples set before them.

I signed the petition “Justice For Dog Set On Fire”. I’m asking you to sign this petition to help us reach our goal of 10,000 signatures. I care deeply about this cause, and I hope you will support our efforts. This is your chance to say enough is enough and help set a positive example that the rest of society is not as much of a coward as Michael Vick or the other people out there that would kill and torture animals for sport.

Having parents with empty-nest syndrome, it shouldn’t have surprised me when they adopted a chihuahua. A couple of days ago, my parents asked me to babysit Archie (their chihuahua) while they are on vacation this week on Lake Champlain in NY. I’ve dog-sat a couple of Labs and Danes before, but never a small dog like Archie. I was so impressed with how well he has been behaved so far this week that we decided to give him a nice day at the spa. There are quite a few doggy spas in the area as well as specialty shops that offer some pretty cool natural spa products for pups.

I don’t know exactly what I’ve got in store for Archie, but I’m definitely going to pick up some natural Bubbles and Beads Dog Shampoo to help repair his coat and help protect him against dry skin. Currently, dog itchy skin remedy options are off the table for Archie due to the moisturizing conditioner I just mentioned, but I might see if I can find some options in case we have to cross that bridge at some point.

A couple of weeks ago my parents picked up a natural Tear Stains Eyepack for Archie due to some staining an irritability of his tear ducts. I had no idea that young pups can have those types of issues, but apparently they can. I guess that is why I’m trying to be so precautious while watching little Archie. I am excited to see that there is such a wealth of great natural dog products not only online, but in the marketplace in general. I mean, being able to treat and care for Archie with effective natural products is not only responsible, but essential in todays world.

Anyway, my parents will be coming back home on Sunday and I hope to have a clean and healthy pup to return to them. Now if I can just get him to calm down a bit at night that would be wonderful.

There were 22 of these great dogs originally, and we are now down to 12. PLEASE, let’s not save just SOME, let’s save ALL! These dogs may not have the publicity that was generated by the Vick case, but each one of these dogs shares the same neglect and deserves the chance to find a great home!

We really need 12 rescues to commit to one or 6 rescues to commit to two! They are ready to go to rescue, all have been spayed or neutered and fully vetted.

They deserve to know what its like to be loved after being terribly neglected. They have WONDERFUL temperaments and shouldn’t be judged by their previous owner who neglected them, but by how sweet they are after all they’ve been through.

Our goal of $500 per week is urgently needed to keep them safe until rescue is found for ALL, so that none are left behind to just be a statistic. Please donate what you are able to and crosspost!! Please pick your favorite dog and sponsor them for a day or week or even a month of boarding to keep them alive till they can go to rescue or be adopted or fostered!

I just finished previewing the show produced by the Discovery for Animal Planet titled Animal Witness: The Michael Vick Case. It did an excellent job of walking through the the timeline of the case, interviewing the investigators of the case and delving into the background of dog fighting. The show will air on August 24th at 10pm eastern and then repeat at several different times on Animal Planet after that. It is rated TV-14 for violence.

The show goes in depth into many of the dog fighting practices employed by Michael Vick and his partners. The details and timeline of events help to paint a very clear picture of when and how things happened.

The documentary does an even better job of detailing the rehabilitation of the Dogs that Michael Vick bred and trained to fight in dog fighting rings across the South East. The rehabilitation of Vick’s abused dogs has been a topic that we have not covered here at SackVick.net in a great deal of detail. This documentary walks through the process that was used and even uncovers some interesting new findings as the rehab groups and efforts involved had to learn how to deal with dozens of dogs all at once. This definitely makes for an uplifting side of the story as you watch just how successful this process was.

That said, this documentary is targeted towards Animal Planet. It does not delve into the human toll, the suffering and the death of people involved in the dog fighting rings and partnerships associated with Michael Vick. It is eye opening for the toll on the dogs and animals, some of the primary victims, but does not delve into the victims that were human and were indirectly harmed by the illegal gambling pools, drugs and weapons rings, and other activities that plagued these events and groups, resulting in many more serious crimes and at least one unsolved murder.

It is a good documentary that definitely highlights information that has not been presented before and not been presented as well or as completely in relation to Michael Vick’s dogs and the nature of Pitt Bulls in general. I would like to see Discovery dig further into these related crimes because many people often just offer up the defense that all Michael Vick did was torture and kill his own dogs. They don’t recognize the other crimes that were committed against actual people as a result of the illegal activity and criminals that were involved in Michael Vick’s dog fighting rings.
